Gents, We're looking at getting some of these very good looking buildings. The question was raised…is the distinctive British red-brick building terrace and the other assorted 'British buildings' usable in any other setting or time period outside Britain? Any advice would help us get maximum utility from these very nice buildings. Regards Happy W

Some of the mining towns in Belgium and NE France were/are of similar brick construction, as is/was some of the older industrial areas in Eastern Europe. Think smokey factories and collierys etc……. |

Have a word with Martin. I'm sure he can suggest alternative time periods if there are any. |

I would use those for anywhere in most of Europe from 1850 onwards, but I'm notoriously flexible. Be pretty at home in many parts of North America too. If I saw that as part of a Civil War town I wouldn't bat an eyelash. There's only so much money and time, ESPECIALLY in 28mm…. |

All kind of pulp scenarios. All industrialized cities Silesia. F.ex.: link Manchuria factories. With different roofs Japan. |

I recommend in this context MGM: Hollywood's Greatest Backlot. I went through the section on Quality Street, their spiffier English set, and found that in addition to English settings, it had been used for France, Belgium, "a village outside Prague" Vienna, Switzerland and "unspecified European." The range on Copperfield Court was similar, and Wimpole Street, in addition to London, sometimes passed as New York or Baltimore. Tanks, uniforms and other costumes do a lot to promote the illusion, and a few street signs, mail boxes and posters are a lot cheaper than keeping multiple sets of buildings. |

ACW?? Only if you're gaming the NYC draft riots. |

ACW?? Only if you're gaming the NYC draft riots. Oh, don't limit yourself! How about Baltimore 1861? Or downtown St Louis a little later? And how far out of place would they be if you were clearing the snipers out of Fredericksburg? I figure we can (usually) swing one or two spot-on period-specific--even recognized individual--buildings, but mostly the idea is to get close enough that they aren't a constant annoyance. None of us has time, money or even storage to maintain buildings for each war or uniforms for each campaigning season, |

Great ideas guys. Thank you. I shall speak to Martin and see what other ideas he has, if any, and report back. Your suggestions do add a good deal of versatility. By ways of the reverse idea, would the Sarrisa WW2 Euro style buildings work in Britain?…or at least some mixed in here and there. Would that look right? Your added comments and thoughts welcome.
