Looking at these rules they seem very appealing for a slow painter like me. Keen to get no fuss figures on the table for small battles.
Multi basing Impetus size should I hope not be a big barrier? It does say skirmish but small units seem to usual. I thought of chariots in 3 for lights and 2 for 4 horse Assyrian types. Not worried re lots of different chariot classifications as could be classed as cavalry for strengths etc. like other rules.
Object is to get some models on the table for simple game with nice figures in easy to do unit numbers and size. Thought Sumerian wars may e nice to start. I assume unit frontage not too big an issue?

Do they come with a rulebook? And is a single box enough start? Looking at Packs Romana, but I'm totally new to 15mm wargaming. Could some kind soul help out a newbie?

The sets on the Rebel Minis site are complete armies. The rules must be purchased separately.

Top bug. My post was for Lion Rampart.

We've used Lion Rampant for Biblicals.
There is a complete set of rules in Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy issue 82 called "Chariots Rampant", with lists for Egyptians, Hittites Babylonians and Assyrians, and a bunch of new boasts.
Chariots are in units of 2 models, each of which takes 3 hits; chariots are all bow armed. My figures are all multi-based – just mark hits until a base is removed.
It works fine as a game, but we felt it was nothing like Biblical warfare; it felt like a Medieval skirmish with different figures.

More recently, we've tried using Saga for this period (using adapted battle boards). This worked much better.

Cheers Dexter. Will get WSS 82. Also had look at satrap miniatures blog and found Sumerian game with Lion Rampant.
