Good Morning All

I wondered if anybody can help me. I am looking for the ground layout and building layout of the Rorkes Drift as depicted in the movie Zulu.

As I am sure you are aware the actual battleground in history was different to that of the movie.

As part of my Zulu War project I want to build the movie set version not the real one. For example the movie set featured the chapel (complete with cross on the roof). If anybody can help I'd be very grateful.

PS I watched the movie again last night and took several stills of the buildings but just need to get the general configuration

thank you

The movie makers did, what?

What about the colour of the British tunic? Assure me that they were khaki.

peace

Nice link. Thanks

Thanks for link Bandit86 – its a good one…

However I am not looking for the layout of the actual battlefield but rather the layout of the Movie Battlefield

Fortunately this turned up on my request in the LAF

picture

I just need to transpose this onto a groundscale map

Sorry Bandit – I think you are misunderstanding me…

I am looking for the layout of the Movie NOT the layout of the real battle.

As you can see the above picture (movie set) is very different to the diagram you have kindly provided

Maybe a silly question, but why?

Perhaps you will be able to find more in "Zulu and the Zulus" if it ever manages to reach the screen/DvD. Good luck.

Hi Fred Bloggs

Why…Because its different ;-)

Sorry to be so evasive but I will reveal why in the blog and on here once it is built.

If you are doing it in 15mm Old Glory has the movie buildings or at least they used to. If you are and can't find them I have a set I'd be willing to let go of.

The book: Zulu With Some Guts Behind It has an isometric view of the interior of the hospital as drawn by the film's art director. If you want to go into that much detail, PM me and I will send you a scan. The book also has the photo you posted, but a cropped in view.

I never realized until seeing the photo of the film set that you never get a 360 degree view of the defenses!

I'd suggest just watching the movie over and over again and try and get some screen shots as thats what I am intending to do. The Movie layout is in a much more compact area and much more suitable for a tabletop game IMHO. I've searched using Google awhile ago but did not find much of the movie set. I will have a look through my bookmarks this evening to see if I can find anything of use.

Thanks for all your help guys…

in the meantime I have managed to acquire the Warlord Box for a reasonable price so my movie set idea is going on hold

Excellent as that opens the door for me to do the Movie set.

8^)
