Looks really nice. I have always wondered what large games with small figure counts and large figures would look like.

Impressive. Really quite beautiful!

Reminds me of the Sweet brothers AWI games. They were a great inspiration to me back in the early days!

Nice stuff.

Have you seen HaT's crowdfunding for Austrian infantry in 54mm. Any use?

Hadn't seen it yet.

Did put in on the blog:

Great looking game, and in 54 (great eye candy!) that much better. Thanks for so many pics.

As 54's are not my game/painting scale, (the unsteady hands show enough slips in 28) Im curious, these were plastic miniatures right?
Does anyone even still make the 'old traditional' metal 54s by chance?

Sure, there are still firms making metal 54mm figures. We sometimes use metal figures for generals or a limit number of cavalry. But making whole armies in 54mm metal would be to expensive, and… much to heavy for the storage racks. The last decades, a number of firms started 54mm plastic ranges (Hät, Italery, Victrix, TSSD, Steve Weston, CTS, Expedionary Force, Armies in Plastic, A call To Arms, Conte, Barzso,…and reruns from figures of the 70s from Arfix, Timpo,…) But not all are available for a long period. So sometimes, converting is the only option. But wargaming in 54mm is on the rise.

Oh whole heartedly agree. It was just a curiousity question. Thanks.
Personally, I prefer plastic by far no matter the period.

In fact, "lugging lead" is what finaly drove me Out of playing 40K. I had and loved my Eldar army. But it just got tiresome to carry around (the only plastic Inf. were Space Marines then).
