Table set up link Day 1 action link Day 2 action link More to come of the overall battle – brilliant setup by Richard as usual, lots of individual inputs to terrain and lovely armies on the table. |

Looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing your postings. Good to see some of those hovercraft seeing the light of day on the game table. Mine, are still in their boxes, sadly. Thanks for sharing your photos and battle reports. No doubt some good entertainment for everyone involved. |

I'm really impressed by this game. It is an unusual scenario of a little thought about area of a potential WW3. You guys put so much effort into this with a really good terrain set-up convaying a real sense of place. I love the idea of having the Spanish and Portugese defending with the Turks. The Southern Front would perhaps invove Italians as well (Certainly there might be pro-communist forces fighting alongside the Soviets.) Very good. Was this 6mm? What rules do you use? |

Thanks guys, rules were Cold War Commander in 6mm, the main blog will have the battle reports coming out but a full spec if the terrain is here: link Richard Phillips did the game setup and the bulk of the terrain, I did the vineyard/olive grove bits, basing 210 trees on the Friday night as the previous 300 or so didn't cover quite enough ground! link I was the Russians on this part of the battle – my opponent had appalling dice luck in places but even then it was a hard grind to push the Spanish marines off the table. I eventually had a full tank regiment deployed and the attached 122mm SP battalions were the deciding factor as my T-62s were loathe to get close after lucking out against close assaults. Mt BTRs did ok in terms of being a serious speedbump in the centre as the Spanish were light on artillery and the SA-6 battery I bought after getting pounded into the turf by airpower last year was definitely worth the points. |
