Hello

I'm trying to find a spray adhesive that will work on the WS clump foliage, flocking trees, etc?

I've tried some off brand stuff I found at Hobby Lobby and Loctite (the regular stuff) and neither do a good job.

Is there a spray adhesive you like that is fast acting and works?

Thank you

I don't think any spray adhesive will do a good job for affixing clump foliage to trees – they are designed to mate smooth flat surfaces generally – you may be better served with good ole Elmers Glue or another PVA

Elmers glue is what I use.

I've tried white glue and the foliage doesn't stick when I'm making bocage.

I use the clump foliage for bocage. I find the stuff not very life like for trees.

Where I'm struggling is trying to adhere lichen/moss to my painted popcicle sticks (painted with kitty litter). The glue isn't taking to that combination of paint/litter. Does while glue not adhere to acrylic paint?

Tacky glue is my choice. Drys clear and rubbery.

All of my 38+ feet of bocage has been flocked using 3M spray glue and virtually none of it has shed off over the last two years of regular use (and travel, even). Clump foliage has always been applied with rubber cement and that works great, too.

Yeah – some kind of tacky glue like Aleene's should do the trick. Or a Zap Goo: auction

I'd do the spray stuff over it AFTER to lock it in place. Scenic Cement is good for that final touch: link

I use Alene's tacky glue for clump foliage, then spray with cheap hair spray to help hold everything together.

In my effort to avoid solvents, I use a hot glue gun to get the first big pieces on, then a tacky glue like copydex to pad them out. Finally I use a sceneic cement spray (thinned PVA). When everything is fully dry, a quick blast of hair spray acts as a good fixative.

Woodland Scenics makes a great glue for affixing clump foliage to tree armatures.

I gave up and bought ebay trees from we_honest.

My older ones I used the stuff from woodland scenics and the stuff was sticky for months afterward. Finally ended up using a 50/50 solution of elmers and water and dunked the trees in that to seal them.

Try wallpaper border adhesive. It's kind of white glue on steroids and easily available at wallpaper stores, with containers in a variety of sizes.

I use Elmers glue.

Hot glue is your friend….until you get it on your fingers.

Hairspray works pretty well for sticking foliage to trees.

acctingman186920 Sep 2016 6:51 a.m. PST

I tried hairspray once and the foliage just fell off.

Is there a better brand of hairspray? Think the stuff I got was eco-friendly and probably not very "sticky"

Anthropicus20 Sep 2016 8:02 a.m. PST

I use a hardware store brand of PVA glue. I find for flocking and static grass getting the ratio of water to glue is important. Too watery and it won't stick, to thick and it won't go into all the gaps to get a good hold. 1:1 is usually about right.

I use Barge cement for attaching clump foliage, usually to tree armatures but sometimes to other things. It's messy and makes noxious fumes, but it dries flexible and really holds on.

@ acctingman1869:
Model railroaders usually recommend the cheapest available hair spray – maybe "cheap" = "sticky".
