6mm INF Brigade Models

Only the Domino Wall is my design, most of the rest came from ThingVerse.

The painted buildings are from Brigade Models, and is the INF team.

The Hawk Walker from DropZone also for scale.

Starting to get the hang of it.

Nice work! What kind of printer?

Ah, very nice.

I think that in time this is going to make scratch building from scrap (the alien building could be a ping pong ball and some sprue for the ladder/steps for example) a thing of the past. Mixed feelings about that ! grin

Ooh! Want! Those are really good. Thingverse, you say?

They look great! What printer / slicer / material are you using?

I've had mixed success quality-wise (though all perfectly usable, many excellent) printing these sorts of Thingies on my XYZ. Main issue is lack of supports on some of the models and layering striations (tho the printer can do 100nm, the crap XYZ slicer clearly can't!). Must say the 6mm not-a-Rhino comes out rather well -it's got a slightly flatter perspective compared to the GW plastic ones, which I think I prefer. (Sorry, no pic – my camera battery is flat, will remedy that and post one asap!)

Plan to flash the firmware on the thing soon to use Repetier, that should improve my quality heaps. Also I might have a go at hacking the head assembly for better cooling so I can try using PLA (I'm stuck with ABS on the XYZ at the mo)

@20thmaine, I'm not so sure about the loss of scratch-building – I will certainly still be dong it, for the fun of it and the satisfaction of unique pieces, certainly for terrain, objective markers, etc. What will defo change is I'll be able to make them look much nicer by using 3D-printed greeblies, doors etc.

Sadly, my 3D design skills are still abysmal, so I'll be relying on the work of others for a while yet! Is anyone else using 3D for anything interesting yet?

Sorry was gone a bit,

Using QIDI dual head printer, based on Flashforge
Was about 650 at Amazon.
They have a new single for about 300 I think now, just came out.

Slicer is Simplify 3d
simplify3d.com

It costs a bit, but I have had almost zero issues with it, and it has some deep controls if you need to get really picky.

Mostly printing at 0.1 on stuff though the larger buildings are 0.2 to keep print under 24 hours.

Did a few tests at 0.08 and it worked well.

Scratch building is still great to do, and I will add some custom stuff for some of these as well that way.

But now if I need that building for 15mm I can print it or shrink it for 6mm.

For doing one offs 3D is slower by far if your designing it your self.
But I am learning the software and have a Defense system about ready for prime time.
I am enjoying learning the software and what I can get my printer to do.

Wish I could afford the B9 Creator that is a resin printer that can print 6mm figures with great detail.
But 4500 vs. 650 and resin is 125 or so per bottle compared to 22 a roll.

It is fun, I have about 40 buildings now so cleaning and painting comes next.

Also registering as a 3d Hub so I can print these for other folks.

Building up an Album on Facebook, as it is easy to put the tags and give credit with the pics there.
