I took advantage of the Bayram holiday in Turkey to visit an old friend and his family in Bucharest, Romania. We took advantage of this to visit Bran, Basov, and Pleven in Bulgaria. Specifically for historical warfare are relevant the National Military Museum in Bucharest, the Bucharest Fortifications Belt, and Pleven with the exquisite Panorama (a 19th century cylocrama like the one in Atlanta and Gettysburg, but cooler), National Museum Branch and tons of monuments.

I took about 1400 pictures and a video. You can find them in three blog posts in my blog. Topics are mostly 19th century but cover antiquity to modern era, so ergo much cross-posting. Enjoy. Take care as you will need a good net connection for fast browsing.

Well done on making your pilgrimage to Pleven, Konstantinos! And thanks for all the splendid photos. Happy to see the Gatlings etc are all still there! :-)
