My ancestor was in the 9th Corps that day, under Burnside, and late in the war tunneled under the Confederate lines at Petersburg – 48th Pennsylvania Volunteers. GdeP |

My great, great and so on Grandfather and his brother were captured at Harpers Ferry when serving with the 61st Ohio by Jackson in the prelude to Antietam. |

Three great-uncles fought there in the 7th (West) Virginia in Kimball's brigade. All survived and then fought at Gettysburg the following year. Their little sister was my great-grandmother. |

The unit I reenact, the 28th Mass, was there as part of the 9th Corps. Otherwise, my G-G-Grandfather was about as far away as possible, chasing Rebel bushwhackers in Arkansas. |
