Latest addition to the French Guard. AB minis painted by my friend Rafa aka "Archiduque" in Spain. He is nothing short of a master of the brush;) (PS: Spot the Guard Train officers in their steel grey uniforms in the crowd. The one on horse is a Line chasseur officer figure, the one on foot is a Line horse arty officer. The officers are all from the french ADC set or Guard officers. The bearskin officer mounted is an early carabinier officer.) They will be based on square bases as small vignettes in themselves. Guard Foot artillery:

In 28mm these would be superb…in 15/18mm…..just what you would expect from Rafa. I find his book on painting French invaluable. Clever conversions too. OK, I'll nit pick………. The IG HA the colpack. It either has the red bag hanging down the right side or the bag is tucked in on top and a black waterproof cover over it, on campaign. Their Colpack did not have a red patch like the Foot Guards. Ideally the top should be black then……but only if that bothers you remotely or you forsee every button counter proferring such info at your figures' every outing! |

Arrghh!! Deadhead: Thats brutal!!! And worse, its all my fault for giving Rafa the instructions. Oh, well, I guess they will be more fancy looking than the rest of their comrades in the guard horse arty, because I am not putting brush to these boys, their just to darn good lookin for that! Thanks for the (dead)heads up anyway;) Next up, the line horse and foot arty. Must double check all references…. (honestly, I thought someone might tear into the Guard foot arty officers for not having peaks on their bearskins…admit it Deadhead, you did spot that one as well right?;) |

I did….really I did………I thought they should be like Gendarmes d'Elite bearksins….subtle difference from the early Carabiniers. The peak needs adding. I originally used Perry Guard Artillery heads on Les Garde Dragons, to make Gendarmes d'Elite, before Perry and Gringos40 made theirs. I have more of that unit than cuirassiers (seriously) At this scale who will notice? Also, by 1815, there seems some doubt about the peak anyway! When you see something this good…there is an art to not being too nit picking. Personally I just love feedback, telling me where the tiniest detail is wrong. Not everyone feels that way. Some do get insulted bizarrely…. |

Hehe:) Well, feel free to nit pick on anything I post;) and thanks for the feedback! I will leave the bearskins, but might change the colpack tops…If I am feeling brave enough. |
