Based on the battles covered it looks more like C&C Dark Age, or more to the point C&C Early Bizantine. I will keep an eye out for expansions, maybe they will get to post Lindisfarne Dark Ages.

Yes, it seems strange to focus on Byzantine vs Persian battles. It's not what people would expect when you call it Medieval.

I wonder if the CCA mechanics don't really work for medievals (ergo Battlelore) and this expansion just closes the gap between the two rule sets?

CCA has been used for every period from biblical to WW2. Hard to imagine it wouldn't work perfectly well for any period. After all it is a command and control game. The counters are almost irrelevant.

Yeah, I had been hoping for a medieval version of C&C but this seems like another expansion for ancients, and a wierd choice for theme. Oh well, hopefully there are some more "au fil de l epee" in the works. A little more complicated, but fun alternative.

I'll have to pass on this one. I am interested in Medieval C&C, but I was hoping for Crusades, HYW or WOTR. I've never even heard of most of the battles that are being listed as the scenarios.

I just found this today too. I am looking forward to it. I think I have all of the sets, including the Kickstarter ones (Great War, American Revolution, etc.) except for Samurai Battles.

I imagine that all the medieval periods you could hope for will be coming along as expansions.

Strange that they chose to do obscure Dark Ages battles rather than the Crusades, HYW, or WOTR like coopman said. They could have even done the Norman Conquest. Hope it sells.

260 preorders in one day. I think it might be ok Jason.

Think it's a natural progression from their late roman set. Would not be surprised to see expansions cover the Dark Ages, Early Medieval and Late Medieval. Would like to see Pike and Arquebus eventually!
