Step 1: buy a thing on ebay. Step 2: Make sure that on the day of delivery, I am home, no music on, so I can get the door when Fedex guy knocks. Step 3: Check tracking, see it was delivered half an hour ago and left on front step. Step 4: Think "that's weird, I am sitting 7 feet from the door and nobody knocked". go to look for item. Step 5: Nowhere to be seen. Look under stairs and behind bush. Step 6: Ask yard maintenance guys outside if they saw a fedex truck. Not a thing. Step 7: Okay, either my package is stolen or it was never delivered. Step 8: Call Fedex. Get told they are "looking into it". Step 9: Wait wait wait. Fedex calls back and says they definitely delivered it. Ask why they didn't knock. get told the seller didn't request a signature. (which apparently means throw it somewhere at random). Step 10: Contact seller through ebay to see if they can badger fedex. No response. Step 11: Contact ebay to see if they can help. Explain problem very thoroughly. Get a response 2 minutes later saying that since tracking shows I received the item, they can't help. Thanks, that's the entire damn problem. Step 12: Open missing item claim with fedex. Step 13: Wait wait wait wait. While waiting, email seller directly through their business email. No response here either. Step 14: get a letter in the mail from fedex saying that they will only do missing item files if the seller contacts them or gives them a written permission. The same seller that wont answer messages. Step 15: Get drunk. File Paypal dispute. Swear to never use Fedex again. Step 16: Get a customer satisfaction survey from ebay. Filling it out takes more time than the time it took for them to close my help request. |

Inconceivable! And Yes, we both know what that means. Hope PayPal dispute at least gets return of your payment. Be sure to leave feedback on the seller and note the lack of communication after calling seller. I assume your emails went to Junk folder, so call seller if possible. |

I am sorry to hear this, shipping and e-bay are not what they once were. Hopefully paypal will help you. |

I have never had great service from FedEx. Always mediocre. |

I had the same experience with ordering something from Warweb; spent >$100 in miniatures, waited for an email with confirmation and a tracking number (they used UPS). About a week later, I noticed on the Warweb site the inconspicuous link to my package status. Find out that my package was already processed, and here's the tracking number. Looked it up on the website for UPS, found out the package was delivered to my address two days ago. After that, I had the same experience in frustration as Weasel, where UPS would not take a loss came from me, but it had to come from Grandiosity. Long story short, I complained to both parties and finally received a replacement package sent USPS, and swore never to use UPS ever again. "What can brown do for me?" Brown can suck it! |

I am not even going to start about Fedex and UPS. Let's just say, if USPS is not a delivery option, I don't order. |
Weasel | 15 Sep 2016 9:29 p.m. PST |
Dan – I did file a complaint with fedex, they blew me off, since apparently only the shipper can do so. Zone – I did file a police report as well. I am hoping with a paypal dispute open, the seller will actually get off their tail.

Fed Ex can be very unhelpful, even when you are one of their largest, worldwide customers. They're really just too big to care. |
snurl1 | 15 Sep 2016 11:01 p.m. PST |
You might check with your neighbors, and look behind your house too. |
Weasel | 15 Sep 2016 11:04 p.m. PST |
Snurl – appreciate the suggestion. I checked both neighbours and behind the house on the same day, just in case the doofus hurled it back there. I suppose he could have lobbed it down into the woods :) |

I had a package left behind my neighbor's house once. Luckily, he noticed it and brought it over. |

My last bad experience with Fedex was when they delivered someone else's package to my dad's house. The street nuber was right, but the street name it was supposed to go to was some distance away. You can bet your ass Fedex records showed it as being "delivered." |

I had a package from FedEx delivered at 10am. I was very excited when I got home to open my package. Problem was that it wasn't there. I checked with neighbors, looked in bushes, etc. At about 6:30pm the FedEx truck rolls by and delivers my package (the one that was 'delivered' at 10am). |

I guess it just depends on where you live. At our old place, UPS was garbage and fedex was fine. Here, UPS always knocks. USPS has generally been consistently good for me, I've never had an issue. Often cheaper too. |

I've had the same problem with the shipper needing to file the complaint/missing package for a "delivered" item with Canada Post – problem was the shipper DID file the complaint, but then USPS they wouldn't do anything about it and pass the complaint on to CP because it didn't require a signature. Oddly though, I recently had some work done on my place and left a note on the front door for the worker to use the back door (due to ultra security on the front), but the Canada Post parcel guy took it to mean him, and now all my packages come to my back door (which is great!). They've never listened to any note I put up that applied to them ("please put parcels between doors") but now I get special service because I wanted the electrician to go in the back… |

No delivery services knock unless a signature is required (if they do be happy but don't expect it), every second of the couriers time is monitored. So regardless how nice your neighbors are FedEx and even UPS says to them "this is something new I just bought", and can be incentive for someone with low ethical behavior to check it out. I work for one of the delivery service mentioned and the best advice for shipping is: you can never over package, send it to a destination that is manned (mail room or business), insure the package, communicate between sender and recipient. If it is Satan then pray. |

My UPS deliveries, they always ring the doorbell, even when they don't require a signature. So does my postal carrier. |
Weasel | 16 Sep 2016 6:35 p.m. PST |
USPS always does here, though I live kinda rural now, so maybe that's different here. |

Doctor X | 18 Sep 2016 8:38 p.m. PST |
I don't see where this is the sellers problem. File police report. You also might want to get a security cam for your front door. They are pretty inexpensive now. |
Weasel | 18 Sep 2016 10:38 p.m. PST |
Fedex will only investigate a missing package for any hope of reimbursement, if the seller (who is refusing to respond) opens the case. Police report already filed. |
