HI all, I'm working on an Arabian themed human army for KoW (you know, flying carpets etc) and want to run a giant who fits theme. Just wondering if anyone makes a very large genie model (or perhaps, though probably less optimal, efreet?)… Cheers :) |

Maybe get one of the Reaper bones plastic ones and cut it in half and put it on a base with a pole of some description, and then fill in the space between him and the base with cotton wool. |

Maybe you could convert a plastic toy soldier Arab warrior:

The Disney Stores used to have a large plastic genie toy like the genie in Alladin |

Yep some good ideas there, thanks guys. To broaden the question a bit, on reflection the list entry is actually simply called a "beast of war" … So if anyone can think of a better idea for a large monster (50x100mm base) for an Arabian themed army I'm all ears :) So far: I'm using Gripping Beast plastic arab infantry for the spearmen/archers, Black Tree designs carpet riders for mounted scouts, BTD Shadu for Pegasus, BTD saracen cav for knights, reaper Genie's for allied Ogres… Just need to be totally happy with the choice of the Beast of War model… |

Pictors Studio, I like your idea, but rather than use cotton wool, I'd be tempted to use green stuff and sculpt the smoke? The think the female Reaper Bones storm giant might be a good choice.. Hmmm … might just be the way to go :) |

"War elephant?" It's a thought. But strange as this may sound, not sure it's 'fantasy enough?' By that I mean there's a real-world mundane equivalent. I'm trying to make plastic Arabs the only non-fantastic thing in the army… |

hah I am doing the same (League of Rhodia list) It's hard to find anything but humans in arab garb. I had my own arab halflings made in the end…

Awesome! Are these your own conversions or were they commissioned? |

Could use something like a Mirliton Manticore. Look in toy shops for plastic vultures or eagles to use as rocs, or giant cobras, or cobras… link Afraid you're 2 years late, but I used to do quite a nice genie – if you can find one it's the Admins genie. |

Is there something Arabic amongst those 90mm toy medieval figures you see in toy/book stores? |

Go truly epic and just buy a costume for yourself. |

leidang for the win… Seriously though, thanks everyone. Great ideas. All useful. Terrement: I'm really interested in that 2nd link for the large resin Genie, I'll follow that up. One of the others (the nice Reaper one) I think is a bit smaller? I was planning to use him as an 'Ogre.' Garrison: that vulture and cobra look really cool, definitely will follow up on that. Looking in toy stores never crossed my mind. No reason the army can't have 2 Beasts of War! |

If it is going to be a warbeast and you want fantasy, how about getting a plastic mammoth, the howdah can be scratchbuilt easily enough.
Papo, Schleich and Safari all make these. I have seen them in michaels and hobby lobby for not too much money. For a Djinn how about this? link |

If you are looking for something big and arab/desert themed you might want to look at some of the stuff from either the Tomb Kings line (if you can find it) or something from Wargods of Aegyptus. Perhaps a Stone Colossus: link or a scarab ogre: link Not really Arabic as much as middle eastern in general though. |

Jeez there's a wealth potentially useful stuff on Crocodile games site. Confess I'd never heard of them. |

^^Yes, that's what I would also have suggested… ;-) Since it's a "beast of war", you could always go with a giant camel… |

heh.. Mithmee having my opponents howl with laughter during deployment wasn't quite the effect I was looking for :) |

I reckon one thing I am gunna do is buy a halfling bard figure playing the pipes, give him a greenstuff turban and put him on the same base as that Schleich cobra GM suggested! |

Giant Scorpion? Sliech Giant Crocodile or Hipo? D&D Mini's Efreet? A suitably large elephant with a suitably large howda, possibly on a chessboard like base would fit an "Arabian Knights" theme rather well. Maybe include some dancing girls and a monkey on the base as well. . . |
