SESSION 14: CLEAR THINKING

Wondering what all the commotion is about Thomas walks down the western corridor before he is momentarily stopped by Halee who makes an icky face and tries to warn Thomas against going into the room.

Ignoring the warning Thomas peers into the room. He sees the Dwarf, his chest heaving with exertion, standing over a pile of corpses. Turning, Thomas starts to retch, just as Cord comes up beside him. "Ohh dude" Cord shrieks as he steps up on his tippy toes and shuffles back.

Uthalin looks up and smiles and then thinks more clearly. His face becomes stern, more disciplined as the next course of action becomes clear to him. Walking out the room he motions Halee to follow him.

He quickly walks to the intersection and carefully crosses the net to the eastern corridor. He whispers to Halee "Shhoosh, I wonder what is down here. We've meet guards from the east and the west but nothing to the north. Let's just have a little lookie see."

"Wait" says Halee. "Let's think this through a bit more, I could try to rebuild the trap but I don't think I can, I'm good at Disabling them but not Crafting them. Ris, what about you, can you build a trap?"

"Nope" the little halfling responds.

"What about the rest of you?" Halee asks.

Ansic responds first. "Well I'm good at five things." And like a child the big man starts to count down the things he's good at on his fingers. "1) hitting things, 2) stopping others from hitting me, 3) Climbing, 4) Swimming. So yeah five things."

Cord loves Ansic slaps him on the back and adds, "Five bro you forgot that you're good at counting too". The barbarian continues, "Well you know I'm pretty good at lots of things. Just saying. Like lifting heavy things, being buff, peck lifts, got a pretty good tan, picken up chicks, Acrobatics, Climb, Handle Animal, Perception and Survival."

Risandor adds, "Yeah that's great Cord, well I've travelled the world and along the way have picked up many skills like Acrobatics, Bluff (which I like to refer to as good suspenseful story telling), Diplomacy, Disguise, Perception, Perform, Sense Motive, Stealth and Use Magic Devices…ohh yeah I love a little magic device."

"What about you Uthalin?" Halee enquires.

"I know heaps of things like Knowledge Dungeooneering, Knowledge Nature, Knowledge Nobility, Knowledge Religion, Stealth and Survival" Uthalin responds.

"And you Thomas," Halee looks over quizzically.

"Handle Animal and Intimidate, yup I'm really good at Intimidating" he responds, wiping the puke from the corner of his mouth.

"Hmmm what to do?" Halee thinks to herself. "I know I'm pretty good at Acrobatics, Bluff, Diplomacy, Disable Device, Intimidate, Perception, Sense Motive, Stealth and Using Magic as well. We know that we've cleared the western entrance and maybe the eastern but we've got no idea what's in the north. I guess we could a) hold up in the western room, b) explore the east, c) explore north, d) go back to The Salty Tusk and heal up, collect rewards and sell the loot which is probably worth something like 195gp each (after taking into consideration all looted weapons and all combatant monster ears). We could also try to build some type of defensive structure and re-set the net trap and maybe deploy some caltrops or something if we try to hold up on one of the rooms or corridors or something else."

The rest of the party are staring back at her, wondering why she's just standing there.

She explains the options to them and asks if they have any others.

They stare back at her blinking, their feeble minds working through the options.

Then one of them speaks with a clear voice and with clear direction "Hey lets …………….."

[DM note to players – guys I'm struggling to remember in detail what everyone has in terms of equipment (ie beside the basics of weapons and armour) so if you've got something there that you want to use try to point it out to me. There is only so much my little brain can remember].

WeLL, Halee and Ris have their potions of clw which probably need to be used on Thomas and Cord. Ris has his caltrops, 50' rope and flask of oil, but needs to rest and recover his performance and magical abilities.

Perhaps a quick scout north and east by Halee and Uthalin would confirm if its safe to rest. Id vote no to resting in the room where Uthalin killed the non combatant orcs as its a dead end..better to be at the entrance with the option to run for town.

Seems Ris and I think alike in outfitting… CLW potion, Thieves tools, 50ft rope, crowbar, oil flask, and caltrops.

Halee is OK with scouting as long as she is not alone and there is backup nearby; she's way to squishy (in both RPG and Smokey terms) and would be down with one decent hit.

Note to DM – Halee's full HP is 9 vice 10 (took the extra skill point per level vice extra HP per level.)

Ok ta thanks for that Mardaddy.

I was thinking I might do a little update of the character summary sheet. It's a bit of a pain to try to get everything down nice and smallish so I can add at the end of each post. I think I might add another row for each character with a quick summary of their feats and skills. That'll kinda cover off on a fair bit of the character.

If you or anyone spots any other little errors just let me know.
