Why War of 1812? The Franklin Expedition was in the 1840s. Nice that both Erebus and Terror have been located now. |

War of 1812 because the HMS Terror participated in the bombardment of Ft. McHenry. It is noted in the article. |

cavalry47 it gets worse Earlier expeditions went in without asking the local people if they knew anything and in many cases ordered them to stay away. This time the epedition leader went to the locals and was given almost an exact location from fishermen who knew the site well |
