Check out youtube – creating a hologram, one or more exceptionally painted mini(s), one light source projecting the above photo and a cheap 4 sided plastic verticle screen. Your soldier is marching in 3D. Your artillerists are loading a canon and firing in 3D. Your cavalry is charging… ah well just an idea… |

Probably a case of the animation plus having a CPU fast enough plus having a holotank Give it time Look at the jump in 3d printing over the last couple of years |
