It was announced today that HMS Terror the second ship of the doomed Franklin expedition has been located apparently in good shape It was lost n 1814 along with the HMS Erebus that was found in 2014

So what is the link between Franklin's expedition and the War of 1812 ? HMS Terror was launched in 1813 and was one of the Royal Navy's bomb vessels that participated in the attack on Ft McHenry during the night of Sept13-14, 1814. So it was one of the ships that fired the shots that gave rise to the " The bombs bursting in air"

To say the least this is a significant find for a number of reasons
