All, So I am embarking on a Check Your 6 project to do SCW air combat in 1/200th scale (10mm). I am thinking about doing the ground forces in the same scale with Pendraken figures. I wonder though if they would be too drab. Anyone done this? |

Pendraken are closer to 1/144, that said, locally a few of us have done the same for A Very British Civil War and it works.Yes, more regular forces can appear drab, but militias you can get colourful, whites (shirts), blues and greys of overalls, greys and browns of regular suits/clothes etc do lighten the look. |

Why is 1/200 still being called "10mm"? That would imply the average soldier is more than 2 metres tall, using the convention that figure height represents real height from feet to eyes. Pendraken are, I believe, scaled to about 1/150. Their WW2 tanks etc are distinctly smaller than those from Arrowhead (1/144), Minifigs (described as 12mm, actually close to British N gauge railway scale) and the Japanese manufacturers like Takara and Dragon, also 1/144. As for the OPs question, don't see any reason why the air forces should not be scaled differently to the ground forces (they would rarely be next to each other) and Pendraken are very nice figures. |

I used Pendraken and 1/144 simply because I can get double duty out of my aircraft (air to air games, ground support in the scale we already used, and possible scenery as well). It works well, 1/200 is off, but not by much and should do as well. The problem is the availability of aircraft that are affordable. Availability is patchy. Pendraken are nice, slightly cartoonish in detail but paints well and you can get quite detailed with little skill, unlike some of the more anotomicly correct minifigs ranges which are nice, but you need a bit of skill and a good eye to bring out the detail. |
