SESSION 13: RECAP

Recap of resources as follows:
• Halee is on full hit points of 10.
• Ansic is on 8 of 16 hit points.
• Cord is on 2 of 14 and has used up 7 out of a total of 11 rounds of rage per day.
• Risandor is on full hit points of 9, has used all of his Inspire Courage and all 1st level spells.
• Uthalin is on 7 of 14 hit points.
• Thomas is on 1 of 13 hit points.

The following team summary shows that they've each accumulated over half the experience points needed to get to the next level.

The party has become a bit of a butt kicker having slaughtered over 40 humanoids so far for no losses.

Uthalin and Cord quickly go about and collect the ears of the hobgoblins and orcs. In total they've got 18 goblins, 1 ogre, 6 hobgoblin and 15 orc ears. In collecting weapons they've managed to grab 18 short swords, 4 short bows, 6 long swords, 5 long two handed spears and 15 falchions and 24gp.

The party starts to debate whether they should go on, retire to town or perhaps rest in the cave.

Then Halee hears a little sound to the west (successful Perception check). She brings her index finger to her mouth and whispers "shhoosh".

Drawing her morning star she motions to Uthalin to back her up (Halee realises that Uthalin is the only one of the fighters with a decent ability to sneak given his ranger background).

They quietly creep down the western passage, Halee 10ft in front of Uthalin. As they get closer she can hear that there are multiple beings in there. They are trying to be quiet. They are trying to hide. 10ft from the entrance she stops and motions for Uthalin to join her. Then they quietly advance to the entrance of a 30ft x 30ft room.

The room is a mess with refuse, waste and filth scattered around it. And it stinks. With no sanitation the filthy orcs are living in squalor. Huddled in the south western corner, whimpering in fear are 8 female and 3 young orcs. Halee turns to Uthalin and opens her mouth but before she can even get one word out the dwarf rushes forward and starts to swing his war axe. Within seconds they are all dead.

My name is Halee Evisage and I support this message.

Thomas walked up to see what was going on and managed to turn around in time to puke over Cord before loosing consciousness.

More ears then…..

Landorl13 Sep 2016 6:07 a.m. PST

Moral of the story… If you're a hobgoblin, NEVER team up with anyone else, they'll hang you out to dry!

Dartagnan201613 Sep 2016 6:18 a.m. PST

Hey, its not like we got out the popcorn to watch the orcs and hobgoblins fight it out….

Echoco13 Sep 2016 7:36 a.m. PST

That's only because we didn't have any popcorn.

So what's next explore deeper or rest?

I hope the Hobos don't get bent out of shape for the ear collecting… (that could get a bit messy)

Mardaddy13 Sep 2016 9:18 a.m. PST

Just don't wear those particular ears when we go back. Keep 'em in a sack or pouch.

And it's not like we are bluffing when we explain we all fought bravely against the orc tribe, side by side, the tribe should be proud of their warrior's performance – and we kept faith, never raising a weapon against the Hob's on our team as promised. It would be the truth.

Bringing all their weapons back in a tied up bundle would help put them at ease also (and of course strike at them before they can retrieve any weapons – but the goal is to lend more credence.)

Quite possibly we can convince the Hob leader to strike out with us in vengeance against the remaining orcs – payback.

Or leave that for later and continue on.

Dartagnan201613 Sep 2016 11:55 a.m. PST

Now that is an idea….hold the entrance and get the other jobgoblins to join us for a revenge attack. I like the idea of returning weapons as proof of good faith…. but what if we rest, raid further, get some loot and give a portion to the hobgoblins when we ask for help going further. Since we all seem to be thinking that one day we will turn on them, they would just be guarding the loot for us until we take it back.

If we rest, having prepared a defensive wall of corpses and weapons pointing out, with caltrops scattered and the net in place, we could then set off further…perhaps starting with the corridor where the other orcs came from to attack Ansic and Uthalin.

Who's in?

Dartagnan201613 Sep 2016 12:56 p.m. PST

I know, you are all thinking, Risandor the mostly harmless …. not a kill to his name, but I'd like to think he is making a strong contribution to everyone else doing the actual killing thing. After all, he got six hobgoblin meatshields for the attack on the orc cave!

Dark Eyed Warrior 69a13 Sep 2016 1:01 p.m. PST

Hahaha. Mate he's one of the best characters in the party.

I've got to find a better way to show up contributions to the little summary sheet. Truth be told your support of the party in terms of spells, diplomacy and inspiring courage are very valuable as are the rolling playing elements about telling stories and poems etc.

Don't worry little buddy. We love you.

By the way Thomas looks a bit useless on that sheet too but his contributions are also great. I've really enjoyed the diversity of the party and it has characters in there that I would have never guessed to have.

Between Thomas's Dazzling Display skills and just the ability to act as a combat support and back up and rear guard adds a lot to the party including he'll probably prevent a TPK at some stage.

And again, he's a great roll playing character from my pov.
