I was wondering that I know that the 75mm Pack gun, 75mm French 75mm gun, 6 prd ATG (57mm) and 105mm were all mounted on the M3 half track. How come no 17 prd ATG were mounted? I know the IDF mounted 90mm guns on them later.

the recoil forces of a 17dpr is massive compared to all the other guns, even the israeli 90mm was a special french low preusre gun same as mounted in some of their a/cars.

The M3 Halftracks mounting artillery pieces were generally intended to be stop gap measures. It was obvious that they were inferior vehicles to the M8 HMC or the M7 Priest or for that matter the M10 Tank Destroyer. 17 pounders were going to be better employed in the Archer, the Achilles or in tanks like the M4 Firefly.
