Thanks for the link, really looking forward to this, probably my favourite 70's and 80's army!

Good review.

I like all the photos of Brit kit in action that are appearing from people's personal collections. Gives it some great context.

I also wonder why they went for a Chieftain instead of Chally1 on release? Chally1's were in the field in 85.

Maybe an upgrade later?

1980 is the year TY is aiming for. It's hard to believe, but the Leo 2 entered service as early as '79.

Possibly they chose 3 (UK) Armd Div because of the "Airmobile" piece, helicopters!!! (Pumas, Chinooks and Bundeswher), however 6 Airmobile Bde were a BAOR Reserve who would deploy throughout the AOR as required, not as a formed 6 Bde formation so would also be found in 1 & 4 Divs AORs. 17/21 were converting to C1 in 85 the RH (7 UK Armd Bde/1 UK Armd Div, had C1 in 85.

Tally Ho!

Chieftains were far more numerous.

Yes only 2 Regiments of Chally 1 in 1985. TY is set in 1985 btw, not 1980. As a Soviet player I wish it were! (Then again it probably would have gone nuclear within 24 hours!)

Challengers would be very pricey to boot points wise.

Same turret and gun as the Chieftan just better armour. No Thermal Imaging until TOGS arrive
