Just commented on a poll and thought it worth a broader question

If you were playing a game where your painted minis were cut in half if they became casualties – how would it impact your strategy, tactics etc…

Would you be
A. More cautious
B. More bold to take advantage of opponents caution
C. Bolting for the edge of the table or just surrender
D. Volunteering for that long flank march
E. Bringing the troops you never liked and can't sell?
F. Borrowing your "friends" troops
G. Playing the same
H. Using loaded dice
I. Other

I picked up a couple of concrete test cores used as such for large game at the 1980 Gencon.

In that game, it was one figure per turn from the loser, but as it was a 'grudge match' between a couple of manufacturers, the pieces were quite wonderful done.

They went to a few smaller cons, including a gladiator tourney, but there's been little interest in playing for such stakes in recent years.

I wondered if there'd be near the 'last man' battles you see now with weak morale rules.

Don't paint, so I've less personally invested in figs, so probably A.

I. Not play.

I did play one game of Battle Tech where the players bought their mechs before the game, and if you killed a mech from a rival player then you kept it. Oh, of course if you got smoked in the game then your mechs belong to the player that lit you up. I lost all my mechs. Not fun.

I'd play with a borrowed army!

In Dallas years ago I played an ogre smash game where units were sculpted out of clay and turrets, and unites were smashed when destroyed – people played differently

Just a thought

My first inclination would be to borrow figures from my much older brother, brass1. He needs to free up the storage space, anyway.
