Before clicking on that post, do you find yourself slightly hesitant. Wondering if this is a Tango post?

377CSG Supporting Member of TMP09 Sep 2016 4:17 p.m. PST

Yes – he has cost me lots of money – some of the stuff he has found I had to have. He finds interesting stuff, I would have probably missed. Good man in by books.

deephorse09 Sep 2016 4:20 p.m. PST

No, I can normally tell, particularly when the number of posts is 1.

Dynaman878909 Sep 2016 4:23 p.m. PST

His name under the post is usually a pretty good sign. Granted the bug bites from time to time

jdpintex09 Sep 2016 4:31 p.m. PST

Nope

nheastvan09 Sep 2016 5:08 p.m. PST

I say he gets made the news editor. He often posts stuff the news feed misses.

I find I'm spending more time away from TMP at various blogs and sites I never knew about as a result of his posts-- and by that I don't mean I'm angry about them, but the posts themselves link me away. He posts someone else's finished terrain piece and off I go to their blog. He's like a source of free ads and news for people who don't want to pay for TMP ads.

I love the vast majority of Tango's posts, and the ones I don't I just don't open. His name is listed, so it should be no mystery. Viva Tango!

Disco Joe09 Sep 2016 5:28 p.m. PST

"He often posts stuff the news feed misses."
He also posts stuff that are on the main page that the editors have posted and also things that other people have posted on the same boards that he is posting to after they have posted.

Hafen von Schlockenberg09 Sep 2016 5:31 p.m. PST

At least making him news editor might finally get him to start looking at the news page.

DisasterWargamer Supporting Member of TMP09 Sep 2016 6:00 p.m. PST

Always worth a look to find a gem or two

Mako1109 Sep 2016 6:01 p.m. PST

The name under the post is the clue.

Yep, should be given an honorary, if not an official, virtual position.

MuggyD09 Sep 2016 6:04 p.m. PST

Position? How about Chief Spammer?

Dave Jackson Supporting Member of TMP09 Sep 2016 6:06 p.m. PST

You guys sure do have a teen crush on for him, I'll tell you

15th Hussar09 Sep 2016 6:08 p.m. PST

Tango may not be perfect, but he busts his butt around here for the entire TMP community!

Hafen von Schlockenberg09 Sep 2016 6:23 p.m. PST

I have noticed a distinct lack of butts around here lately. . .

wrgmr109 Sep 2016 8:13 p.m. PST

Tango has some real gems on occasion. Worth a look sometimes.

Old Contemptibles09 Sep 2016 9:35 p.m. PST

Guys, I never scroll down to look at all the posts. I just usually check the boards I am interested in. I am going to check them out no matter what I see on the front page.

Texas Jack10 Sep 2016 2:25 a.m. PST

But if a topic interests you, what does it matter who posted it?

To those who complain about Tango:
In the dark past, people complained Tango took up too much room on the front page, so Bill expanded it to 400 topics.

People also complained that the stifle function does not block posts originating from Tango, so Bill created the ignore function, which allows users to filter out anyone on TMP they do not like.

Therefore, with the tools Dear Editor (may he live forever) has given us, why is this even an issue? This is SO 2014.

Tango is in my top 5 TMP'er list!

jowady10 Sep 2016 6:19 a.m. PST

Wow, how original, another "I hate Tango's posts" post. Since the name of whoever started the post is on the post I wonder why anyone would have to "wonder" who started the post? Don't like his posts? Don't READ THEM! Don't like the mere thought that you are sharing the board with his posts? Stifle him, block him, really why is this so hard? What I wonder is what is the endgame here? To get him to stop posting?

I have no problem with Tango and his posts. As others have noted, there are ways around this and more importantly … NO ONE FORCES ANYONE TO GO TO ANY POSTS.

If the topic of a thread does not interest me … I don't go to it. And if I do and see it is not as interesting as I thought. I go to another board or thread …

GarrisonMiniatures10 Sep 2016 7:47 a.m. PST

I look at the title, if it looks promising I open it. I open lots of Tangos, a lot more I don't. Same as with other posts.

Weasel10 Sep 2016 11:37 a.m. PST

I'm not really down with threads specifically about one poster.

Mollinary10 Sep 2016 12:17 p.m. PST

No, not hesitant at all. Tango has found lots of out of the way interesting stuff I would never find for myself. For the rest, if I am not interested in the topic, I don't open it.

"Tango Wars" ….they are not what they were… (smile)

There is only … occasionally … some loose shot … easy … with no substance … a sad parody of a more warlike past … not even worth making any comments … anyway… thanks you very much for you support my good friends… nothing to see here… move on… (smile)

Ignore function has worked for me. I can sleep soundly. Thanks Bill

Really, now. Nope. He who hesitates loses.

Rrobbyrobot10 Sep 2016 1:41 p.m. PST

I think Tango is very helpful. He finds all manner of nifty stuff to share with us. That not all he finds is equally nifty is only to be expected.

14Bore10 Sep 2016 4:27 p.m. PST

Get to see stuff I wouldn't otherwise see

pmwalt10 Sep 2016 5:40 p.m. PST

Personally, I think he adds quite a bit of good to TMP. I tend to pick a post, however, based on the content/title and far less care (or worry) about who posts the information.

Personal logo Flashman14 Supporting Member of TMP10 Sep 2016 6:57 p.m. PST

He doesn't post enough nsfws anymore. =D

Marc the plastics fan11 Sep 2016 3:46 a.m. PST

I always check the threads i am interested in and if Armand posts to the. Then i read them and follow the links. So to me he is a great guy to have on TMP. He is never critical or snarky, just infomative. And sometimes he duplicates a post I didn't see originally so he adds to the sum worth of TMP for me

So to the tango haters I say "go away and stop being borish"

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP In the TMP Dawghouse11 Sep 2016 8:56 a.m. PST

Again … No one is forced to go to any link posted on TMP … Tango is the very least if at all, of the problems on TMP, and there are few of those, IMO.

Tango0111 Sep 2016 11:55 a.m. PST

Yep, same here, glad to have him around for o so many reasons.

doublesix6615 Sep 2016 4:14 a.m. PST

With great trepidation as he's cost me a lot of money with those ohhhh shiny got to have link's

He does do some duplication in posts which can get on people's nerves but as other's have said you can read the title before opening or use the tool's to ignore him if it really bug's you

I just enjoy the post's and the odd gem and item's I probably wouldn't have seen otherwise especially if it was some obscure/new company I've never heard of
