Hello TMP,

I have lurked on and off here for a while and gotten some great tips in doing so. But now I must post!

I'm running a zombie-themed RPG based in 2016 Arizona, using Risus. It's going very well, but the players are cutting through the bog standard zombies like nobody's business.

I'm into giving them something more meaty to fight. Recently, I bought on The Bay some GW Nurgle plaguebearers and modded/crossbred them with Wargames Factory zombie bits to create some mutant/body horror atrocities to which I can justifyably make a harder fight than Zomb Level 1.

By the by, I learned in the process that I LOVE modding figs.

Anyway, my question is: what other figs can you think of which would fit the above scenario? Ideally, they won't have weapons in their right hands and if they come from a fantasy setting, they can easily be 'persuaded' to suit a modern/real world campaign. I'm in the UK, so stuff that can be sourced from over here would be favourite.

I've already found Cool Mini's Ablobination: link

Thanks for your time.

I would check out reaper miniatures bones figures, nice sculpts and the price can't be beat. Also since you like modding they are easily modified because of the material they are made from.
reapermini.com

Just do a search using "demon" on their site you will get some sculpts that are probably along the lines of what you are looking for.
This is a pewter figure but would make a good zombie boss.

Throw in some zombie elephants and rhinos (and maybe other zoo animals.) They should be nicely dangerous and remarkably hard to kill (especially if the players are lightly armed… ;-) You should be able to find them in your equivalent of a dollar store.
And, oh yeah, they can also crash through buildings, so anybody thinking they can hide in one will be in for a nasty shock… ;-) And, some tigers can leap up to 20 feet up into a tree…

Thumbs up for Risus, and keep modding!

Reaper Bones are excellent for this.

Zombicide from Cool Mini or Not

Great tips, thanks folks. @Zepher1, I'm still uhmming and ahhing over whether zombism has jumped the species gap to animals. A zoo outbreak of normal big cats, hippos and other lively beasts could still make for an eyebrow raising encounter though!

@Mithmee, there was me thinking I knew CoolMini's stock fairly well. Appreciate the heads up. Incidentally, I've just found that one can fit seven bog standard Zombicide zombies into a Pringles lid to make a Risus style grunt squad. This'll give them some fresh relevance in the game.
