On Sunday last I participated in a TY game at Strategicon at the LAX Hilton from noon till 430 as I had to leave. The game was scbeduled from noon to about 4 but ran over because each turn took an hour and it took over a hour for the initial deployment. I controlled two Soviet tank companies and a platoon of Shilka AA. My game actions consisted of two ten inch moves, knocking out two Marders and killing one infantry, and losing one T72 Two hours Not to mention the models kept snagging on the felt/carpet, the turrets kept falling of as I had to tug the snagged models off the felt and I was told that basjcally the tankscouldnot ennter the hjgh rise city I couldnt blast or shoot up the buildings And the TY game is not set up for a siege or destruction of buildings by artillery or air power Besides these high rise are not in the novel directly and the playing area was too sballow, each side was well within range of the other I suggested use of microarmor and centimeters for inches to give depth but the game calls for 15mm and inches |

I think 1/285 minis are best for FOW games. It improves the look. I would even keep the inches scale. Anything over skirmish in size looks far more realistic on a standard table using the smaller scales, especially modern battles. |

WRG 1950 – 1985, or others. Gives a good game, has realistic shooting distances, and seems pretty quick to play, based upon a few tests I've done at home. |

Sounds like the game masters didn't do a good job. They could have moved it right along and picked a better scenario to showcase the game. There is an art to putting on a convention game and have it memorable for a good game Instead of an a bad one. Instead you got a bum deal. |

Our games usually last just a little over 2 hours and that's with 200 points per side. Mind you some 35 soviet tanks plus. And in that time many many tanks are aflame.
But we also play on a 12x5 foot table |

At Little Wars I ran a Mega Team Yankee game that featured a US Battalion Task force of 4 companies plus support vs a Russian Regiment of 2 tank battalions and 1 Mech Battalion all full strength. The table size was 12 feet wide and 8 feet deep. The game played very well with everyone telling me they had a good time. You can play the game on larger battlefields and get a very good result. |

I agree that if you have only a 6x4 space to play, a full a 100 point game of TY looks pretty crowded using 15mm. Better to reduce the points by half-although that will limit the toys you can field. We've played on an 8 x 6 table and that was fine for 100 points. |
