"One result of the Reconquista was that at the end of the 15th century the newly united Spanish kingdoms had a core of battle-hardened and highly experienced soldiers, many having benefited from instruction in the latest techniques by the then-matchless Swiss. Spain would soon organise these men into what would become the famous Tercio, and over the next century and more Spanish infantry would dominate Europe as Spain vied with France for pre-eminence. The first half of the century saw much of the fighting in Italy, but outside Europe Spanish soldiers would also see action in America, Africa and Asia as the Empire grew and Spain became a world power…"

Thanks, Tango, for the link to these nice plastic 1:72 miniatures.

Here is a link for those who are interested in 28mm metal Spanish for TYW:

Note, Late Pledge is still open, but will soon close.

Here is a link to painted prototypes of these beautiful figures:

Hmmm, head on No. 2 seems a bit small for his body, but perhaps it's just due to all the overly large heads I see on so many sculpts posted for viewing.

I'd rather have the Revell or Caesar Conquistador sets, yet PSR rated both lower.

Nice thread hijack there…

But for those of us interested in 1/72 plastic, this is a great development and quite high quality to boot.

As to proportions, difficult from a photo, but plastics do tend to be more physically accurate

I look forward to seeing if they develop this range

It's the set #2 I'm waiting for since I'm assuming it pikemen. I have enough conquistadors for sword and buckler, crossbow and harquebusiers.

In the last update from Condotta's link they mention "Kingdoms", the second tercio book is soon to go to the printer's. Does anyone know if this is the English version? Been waiting for this book fer awhile now. : )

"Nice thread hijack there…" I don't agree. what I did was compared these figures against their competition.

Many of my existing Spanish pike came from converting Caesar sword and buckler men. I got the idea from this site: link

I think mark was referring to the 2nd post in the thread

But for those of us interested in 1/72 plastic.

Those ceaser sword and buckler conversions are very nice. Thanks for the link

Yup Bill, it is as the link to metal 28mm that seemed off to me

Casar etc – bring 'em on

Bill N09 Sep 2016 8:45 a.m. PST

Sorry Marc. The main reason I posted was to share that site on the Caesar conversions.
