Did you get any wargaming in?

I only spent a small time at the workbench, drilling apart some toy cars, but I did watch a few episodes of classic Trek. Other than that, just the usual holiday stuff…

Last day the pool is open so did that. Grilled. Kids to bed early, school starts tomorrow. 2 episodes of Breaking Bad (I know I'm years behind the times) Finished a tank battalion. Did some tidying up in the game room. Ignored all the yard work. Started slow, was at a party Sunday evening.

Played a board wargame on Saturday. Got a walk in at the beach Monday night after all the seasonal guests left.

I completed the terrain for my 28mm Battle of the Alma game and got about 90% done with the Grenadier Guard, one of the last units required for the game which is scheduled for Hurricon in Orlando later this month. It's a big board, 6 X 16ft. It was a tedious, but interesting project. The redoubts are to the left not in the pic.

Mainly spent it building 4Ground buildings, with some painting of hedges and other scenic junk. Dullcoted some figures and painted some blinds. So fairly productive, and also spent some of the time watching TOS Trek!

I went to Pacificon, a gaming convention in the San Francisco bay area. Had a great time with friends I do unusually see. But interestingly, I only played 1 war game (frostgrave), and instead played 4 RPGs, 2 sessions of Dungeon Crawl Classic with aforementioned friends, and 2 official convention games with rule sets I had been wanting to try (Crypts and Things, and Barbarians of Lemuria). This was a big change for me, but I think since I and my friends are in our late 40s, early 50s, we are getting nostalgic for our early gaming roots, and are harkening back to old school d&d.

I didn't work but.. I fielded 3 work phone calls on MY TIME and on my personal phone. Grrrrr… There is no boundary they won't cross. I've gotten calls when I am on vacation and 100's of miles away and I can just defy the laws of time/space/physics to do anything to help.

Great weekend. On Sunday we had seven players for 1/1200 sailing ships, then on Monday we had five for Flames of War on two tables. After the first game we swapped armies and opponents and played again. Following that a meat fest on the BBQ, adult beverages for some and cigars. Great day!

Several of us had a great game of RF&F at a friend's house with good snacks, brews and friends.

I recently ventured into 28mm. This weekend, I finished assembling my first box of plastic Victrix early French line infantry. A little tedious to assemble, but the level of detail is very nice!
