I've been busy painting up some 1:600 Tumbling Dice aircraft for my Operation Earnest Will project so I thought I'd share some pictures.

These miniatures paint up really nicely and the raised cockpit glass really helps with painting.

A pair of Iranian F4s – gotta love the Iranian camouflage schemes!

Angels on our shoulders – an A6 overflies the USS Wainwright

Strike escort – a pair of F14s escort an A6 on a strike mission

A helo takes off from the USS Elmer Montgomery. The helo is actually a Lynx until I get my LAMPS helos. This photo also shows why I'd be happy to buy helo deck transfers! I'm planning to switch to 1:2400 so please do both – that's a hint Cold Warrior ;-)

The classic 'Deployment Publicity Shot'!

The lad and I had a game this evening and I can see some major tweaking is needed on my home brew rules, but I'll try and post an AAR anyway.

best wishes,
Nick

Nice pics! The transfer/decal project is coming along, albeit slowly. Had to invest in tools for accurate measurements, now that is done just need to get everything measured and sent off. We'll see how it goes from there (keeping my fingers crossed!).

Desperately need the 1/2400 decals myself, have a lot of ships needing to be painted and finished soon.

What is your mat?

Bozkashi Jones06 Sep 2016 3:06 a.m. PST

CW – excellent news! Cheers!

Bill – the mat's a cheap bit of leatherette upholstery material bought from a local home store. It's about 6x4 but my table's only 5x3…

I need a bigger table :-)

Hi

Planes look excellent!

What did you use for the bases. I like the look of them as the models are not too high, less chance of clumsy players knocking them over :)

I suspect "leatherette" is a fancy word for vinyl.

Very nice work. I agree with you about the TD stuff being easy to paint. One small thing the IRIAF's aircraft didn't have markings on the starboard wing, like the US.

Cheers guys,

CW – I've put a join request in for the FB page

Rory – thanks mate; the bases are short nails (the sort you'd use to bang a piece of thin MDF to a frame) bought from Wilkos for about a quid for 100 or so

Mako – yep, got me – I couldn't spell 'vinyl' ;-)

Fatman – cheers. I was working off a googled plan view of unknown provenance – I should know to work from photos by now!
