How about a crotchety old orc with a beard, something like the old prospectors in westerns, or a gruff veteran orc glowering over a tankard of ale (which then makes me think Orc barkeep/bouncer/tavern wench/drunks)? Dang. You're opening Pandora's box now, Khadrin! |

Blacksmith, yes. And a grisly butcher! A beast-handler perhaps? I like the idea of old orcs too, assuming any orcs ever survive the predations of other races ;) But there should be young orcs and females, if you want them to be a genuine species. Looks like a fun project! Cheers, RC. |

I just acquired a 15mm Orc army in a trade. I would love to pick up a village worth of just civilians. Men, women and children just going about. Carrying a sack, doing the washing, playing orcish games. But if you want really recognizable activities, then: - Blacksmith is a good start. Making something other than a weapon. With an anvil and maybe a sprue of tools and scenic bits.
- Wagon driver and drovers. I assume orcs use transport of some sort?
- Woodsman with a bundle of firewood.
- Tinker/trader with a pushcart.
- Farmers? With a hoe or other tool?
- Merchant/shopkeeper/bartender – basically an orc with rolled up sleeves and an apron.
- Shaman/healer

Khadrin, what kind of style are you aiming for? The Games Workshop look? Splintered Light perhaps? Or something more like the LOTR movies? Just curious :) Cheers, RC. |

Hi Cullen none of the above. It'll be kinda classical D&D type |

Classic D&D as in pig faced? Because I love me some pig orcs! Extra crispy is right on- non-combatants would reflect necessary and common need. Farmers, herders, butchers, cooks, etc. for food. Orcs with tools (shovels, hammers, etc.) instead of weapons. Maybe generic craftsmen which can double as merchants. Women and children is definitely a good thought. Pose variation can help a lot. Orcs running, leaning in repose, sitting, etc. also adds variety to the typical warrior stances. |
