What game would YOU LIKE to publish? And why aren't you doing so?

Personal logo McLaddie Supporting Member of TMP03 Sep 2016 1:04 p.m. PST

Still in development.

Dan 05503 Sep 2016 1:19 p.m. PST

Almost ready.

Northern Monkey03 Sep 2016 1:51 p.m. PST

I'd like to publish one with the intent of balancing historical authenticity and playability or, if you prefer, excitement. The reason I haven't done so is that there are plenty of rule sets available achieving that balance already.

napthyme03 Sep 2016 2:13 p.m. PST

I have a lot of stuff on the drawing board, but no free time to develop it.

I have a used car card game that I have been working on since 2005

A holiday wars game that is still in the development phase.

and about 10 other projects that I will probably never get around to unless the world stops and there is nothing else to do.

rmaker03 Sep 2016 2:44 p.m. PST

Been there, done that. Being a small publisher is a lot of hassle for little net return. Now, if an existing publisher wanted to license Source of the Nile from us, we'd be happy to talk.

Ottoathome03 Sep 2016 2:50 p.m. PST

My Renaissance Scenario generator and Campaign game. I am working on it, but probably will just give it away when done.

My campaign system for "Magnolia's Mint Juleps n' Gritz" A humorous Imagi-Nation approach to the American Civil War. Completing soon. I might publish this one.

"Down at the Train & Game" a role-playing adventure game of skullduggery intrigue, power sturggles and politics among a group of war gamers in a local war game club. What's holding it up from publication is the terror of libel suits when it comes out.

Wackmole903 Sep 2016 2:54 p.m. PST

Source of the Nile is one of the best games ever invented, SO Why isn't it available???????? DO A Kickstarter and get it back out Please.

thorr66603 Sep 2016 4:55 p.m. PST

A card game where you use ingredients to make recipes and meals competing against other players. Think magic the gathering meets iron chef

Russ Lockwood03 Sep 2016 6:43 p.m. PST

Many in many stages of development.

Winston Smith03 Sep 2016 7:49 p.m. PST

Flames of Liberty, a smoothbore musket "variant" to The Sword and the Flame is my design. And epturner's too. It's basically just TSATF, but renaming the charts.

Initially based on the American Revolution, it can also be used for the FIW, the '98, Whiskey Rebellion, and any other period we buy figures for.

The only thing holding us back is setting up the tax shelters and overseas banking accounts to handle our anticipated obscene profits.

The one that makes me a millionaire. evil grin

I would like to publish an updated (with modern forces) Fleet Series of games (done by Victory Games years ago).

Would also like to re-publish GDW's classic Third World War series. with updated TO&E's/OOB's from information we have after the Cold War ended.

For my own design, would love to publish a monster game dealing with strategic nuclear war circa 1983.

World War II naval surface actions is the game I'd like to publish, and the reason I'm not is because I can't figure out how to make it do what I want without bogging down.

V/R,
Jack

Always wanted to do a sequel to my game Artifact…then I come face to face with this thread and realize there's no good reason not to do so.

Weasel03 Sep 2016 10:43 p.m. PST

The holy grail for me is a hardcore, really detailed fantasy RPG with extensive combat rules and deep character development.

So…basically the sort of game nobody plays any more :-)

daler240D04 Sep 2016 2:42 a.m. PST

a Sllesian Wars (WAS) campaign system/game that is between the complexity level of Red Sash Games and the and the simplicity of AH/SPI's Frederick the Great.

I have about a dozen playtested scenarios on my desktop that I have been to busy (pronounced: lazy) to finish up and publish. I really want to get them done.

Mugwump04 Sep 2016 4:51 a.m. PST

Done did, a role playing game called: "Planets of Peril: the Sword & Planet rpg." It's for John Carter, Carson Napier type of adventures. It's sold through rpgnow.com and while not a smash hit occasionally gets me some beer money.

The only reason that drives me to publish another game is to present a new idea.
The main goal is to produce a game that is intellectually challenging.

VonBlucher04 Sep 2016 7:10 a.m. PST

Napoleonic Naval rules that I spent years in development to get it easy, fun, historical, but made you think. They were for ship to ship or small fleet actions. I think the hardest part to get right was the gunnery and damage charts.

cosmicbank04 Sep 2016 7:15 a.m. PST

A game were you move your guys and the other person mover thier guys. Then you laugh have fun and drink a beer or two and maybe get some snack food.

Texas Jack04 Sep 2016 9:51 a.m. PST

Pre-dreadnought semi-fast play. I actually have finished writing them and have play tested and adjusted and play tested again.

I have also done the stats for every ship from 1879-1905 in Conway´s, including torpedo boats huh?. Clearly these will not be available in hard copy.

What is stalling me now that the development work is over is the tedious formatting of the final copy. I started these rules in 2010, so I figure I will give it another five years before I despair. grin

Zephyr104 Sep 2016 2:31 p.m. PST

Need to finish it first. The miniature line would consist of a largish SF spider creature (optional, or proxy also acceptable, such as an eight-legged clump of black pipe cleaners ;-), as most players would pretty much have plenty of other suitable minis already… ;-)

Rudysnelson04 Sep 2016 5:43 p.m. PST

I have several bock games in various stages of completion. A few miniatures rules. Basic counter games.

rmaker04 Sep 2016 6:42 p.m. PST

The one that makes me a millionaire

To quote Lou Zocchi, "The only way to take a million dollars out of the game business is to start with two million and get out when you're down to one."

Personal logo piper909 Supporting Member of TMP04 Sep 2016 10:48 p.m. PST

I've got several miniatures rules and several boardgame designs and even an RPG concept at various stages of completion/development, but I can't say here what they are about because someone would steal my ideas and I'd lose all those fabulous millions. Esp. the Lou Zocchi versus Woody game!

ITALWARS05 Sep 2016 8:23 a.m. PST

i would like to dig in my library to publish scenario booklets for Italian and French Colonial to be gamed with TSATF and WW1 and WW" Italian /East African fronts series of scenarios with an eye to Rapid Fire rule systhem

rjones6905 Sep 2016 1:04 p.m. PST

A book on the Nama Wars of 1904-08 in German South-West Africa, a follow-on to my Herero War book, is in development.

alien BLOODY HELL surfer05 Sep 2016 2:24 p.m. PST

A good set of quick to play but detailed enough Star Wars rules, with full rights and a range of minis produced in 6 and 15mm :-)
