I will be running a series of Age of Sail games at the SOUTHERN FRONT miniature wargame convention next month ( Raleigh NC, 7-9 October 2016).

The games will be played in 1:1200 scale, using my "Steer to Glory" rules. The basics of the rules are easy to grasp and anyone with a dram of salt water in his veins will be in action in ten minutes.

> Cochrane vs Willaumez off Tortola – 1806
A plucky but heavily outnumbered British force must fend off a marauding French squadron under Willaumez, who has a peculiar tactical headache of his own to worry about. (4-6 players)

> Corsican Encounter – 1799
Two British frigates cruising off the Corsican coast come upon a pair of strange ships. The outcome of this small engagement may have a considerable influence on the war. (3-4 players)

> Homeward Bound – 1814
USS Constitution, homeward bound after a long and successful raiding cruise in the Caribbean, finds her way barred by a pair of British 38 gun frigates off the coast of Massachusetts. Can Captain Stewart fight his way through to safety? This is a thinking man's scenario that is no cakewalk for either side. (2-3 players)

Game times and table locations should be up on the Southern Front PEL shortly.

I look forward to finally meeting some of my fellow TMPers face to face. I can be contacted at – byronangel <at> verizon (dot) net – if any questions.

P.s. – If anyone reading this is located near the Greenville-Spartanburg SC region and interested to get together for a game or two, I'd be most pleased to hear from you.

SF PEL is in the hands of our webmeister and should
be posted shortly. Note this is the initial PEL
and more games will be posted as they come in.

(like mine, procrastinator that I am !)

That should look good on the tables, looking forward to seeing it and maybe joining in…I'm not much of a naval captain :-)

Come on in, John. The water's fine and no one will be keeping score. You might surprise yourself!

LATEST SOUTHERN FRONT 'STEER TO GLORY' SCUTTLEBUTT

I will be bringing all three of the previously scenarios plus an extra – "Saumarez in the Strait of Gibraltar", which can accommodate up to 8 players. I will be happy to run whichever scenario will support the number of gamers interested in playing.

I will also run additional unscheduled games, depending upon gamer interest and table availability.

Look forward to running some fun games with new people!
