During my vacation I once more visited my favorite ship museum with two friends from Turkey. We took some pictures which you can find at

The ship is a very open museum, with tons of artefacts and a lot of the areas open to public (though not all)

AHA!!! Greek naval secrets abound there me Hearties!

I found the Greek Navy in WW2 almost as hard to research as Japanese small craft. Very hard to understand why.

Thanks for sharing this. I enjoyed the pictures. If you ever visit Philadelphia make sure to visit the USS Olympia. Given your interest in late 19th and early 20th century ships, I think you would enjoy it as well.

Thank you very much! The ship appears to be exceptionally well maintained, especially considering her age. She and her near sisters in the Italian Navy were certainly among the best armored cruisers ever built.

Kevin, if I am lucky and get into ISA this year it will be held in Baltimore. My plan is to hop to Philly in order to visit the Olympia.

One reason for that is that the ship still has an active naval flag, so its maintained by the Navy. Greece has conscription, so no lack of manpower to do the work :p. It helps that service on the ships means service in Athens :)

If I was Donald Trump level rich, I would spend the money to make the Texas, Mikasa, Averoff, Olymbia, Aurora, Drazki (Bulgarian tropedo boat) sea-worthy and send them on a world tour. That would be cool.

A very nice tour of a great ship. I've always thought she was the best of the armored cruisers.
