I haven't bought "figures" for many years. But I recently bought some ruins from Miniature Building Authority.

I just bought 250 wooden blocks (red & blue) from Columbia Games to play BBB European 19th C battles with. I balked at the thought of painting hundreds of new figures for the era at my age (63). I may end up getting the miniatures at some point. The appeal of the minis is certainly very strong.

At my age I have had to outsource much of my painting. I don't have that many haircuts left. My eye sight and steady hand isn't what it use to be.

I am fortunate to be able to afford it. Back when I was much younger I painted my own figures, couldn't afford to have them painted. So many projects, so little time.

I have so much stuff, I am not sure what more I need, unless its something I like a lot.

I bought into a lot of kickstarters and I am hoarded by minis. Plus I have a lot of Bones and D&D plastics for monsters.

Its a good hobby, it beats heroin addiction or stds.

I just bought a bunch of Star Wars miniatures from CoolStuffInc. My local game store only had grab bags, and I never got what I wanted.

That must be the reason why sales are up 20% this year, following the same trend for the last decade.

Buy lots, paint, none :-(

I keep wondering if this so called "graying of the hobby" is just a myth. No one and I mean no one has furnished any hard facts to back up that claim. Seems sales of products are up.

Which maybe because the older guys have more disposable income. I consider it a myth until someone in the industry like maybe GAMA provides some stats to back it up.
