Saturday at Dennis's , an LADG Battle Report I know no one will be on line this weekend or Monday, so here is a early release. There was an odd number of players at the L'Art de la Guerre at Dennis's book store, "On Military Matters", so Dennis just filled in for late arrivals and early departures. So when he asked for fourth game I had to say yes. Fresh from 3 wins today, the Anglo-Irish hit the table again. Alas, a game too far… Anglo-Irish vs. French Ordinance link Enjoy |

Nice battle When you said Anglo-Irish vs French Ordinance I expected a one-sided slaughter but the Anglo-Irish nearly won – great AAR |

If the Swiss Allied command had remained seized up another turn or two, it would have been bad for the French. But my deployments still badly need rethinking. I keep getting cramped and fragmented on deployment. My opponents start in nice long orderly lines. |

I'm finding that the smaller table size in ADLG really means you need to think carefully about deployment – if you just trolley up and lay your troops out along the most forward deployment line you can quickly get overwhelmed in ADLG by a rapid enemy attack. There is often not much time at all for faffing around before you ae into combat. Add to this how flanking attacks are so important it does even seem to make massed hairy/barbarian armies or those where quantity outweighs quality far more viable than in some other rules I've played. |
