Scots Highlanders. If I had to pick a regiment, it would be the Cameron or Gordon Highlanders. Or maybe the Liverpool Scottish territorials. Without the silly kilt aprons. |

My vote is for the Imperial German Marines – who had not yet received the field grey uniforms and went to war in their home service dress.
BTW – Piper 909 – as a kid my next door neighbor served in the Liverpool Scottish – joined up in 1914, captured in 1916 and spent the rest of the war as a POW. Had some interesting tales of life as a POW. |
