I intend to start an ancient wargames campaign using 6mm models set in the Gallic War. Any advice on maps, reinforcement allocation etc? First thoughts… Capture a town then gain +1 prestige which can be used to intimidate other towns to surrender without fighting or spent on reinforcements? I've been doing some google searches for an adequate campaign map but am not having much like. Anyone done something similar before and have a suggestion? Thanks. |

You could try looking at this boardgame for your campaign map. link It has a Vassal module, which you could use to take a screenshot of the board. If you don't know Vassal, you can download the engine here: vassalengine.org Set that up, and then open the module, which you can download from here: link Cheers, Aaron |

Well reinforcements are unlikely. You may be able to hire Gallic mercenaries. Certainty your conquests should provide slaves and plunder (you have to think like a Roman here). Too many slaves and the prices will drop – you will have flooded the market. The Senate back in Rome can be a pain to deal with. Remember you will need to garrison the areas you conquer, the pesky Gauls are revolting. |

Find an old copy of Tactica Medieval. It contains a really easy, effective set of campaign rules that can be used wth just about any map, and with any period. They are only a couple of pages long. Just enough framework to make battles matter, without the campaign getting in the way. |
