- Assemble an Airfix Churchill - Paint a full set of soft plastic figures - participate with a Napoleonic battle scenario - Own a figure based on an actor who played a historical character. - Visit a Games Workshop store - Put up a game using "oddball" figures and scale like 1/6th, 120mm, 2mm etc … - Add sand from a famous battlefield when basing models - Paint the flag of your favourite regiment - Try a computer moderated game - Try a diceless/no measuring system - Own at least one Roman unit - Write you own wargame rules - Try to get your wargame rules published - When starting out, keep one of your first figures aside and paint it when you think you have gained enough experience. - Field a Tiger in a WWII game - Add a Tardis or a Dr Who figure to a strictly historical game - Game a siege - Participate in a campaign - Participate in a tournament - Paint an "imagi-nation" unit - Naval or aerial games - Sell off a never played or least favourite army - Paint a figure or model using only craft paints - Recreate the battle that happened nearest to where you live - Own a dragon figure - Own a figure of a famous historical character - Play a free ruleset from the internet - Fight a desperate last stand - Bring a helmet, uniform or attribute to a game and wear/use it during the game - Own at least one Osprey book - Write an article in a wargaming magazine - Keep a pack or blister of figures unopened for that nostalgia feeling a few decades down the line - Build a resin/vac-form kit of a rare vehicle that is not commonly available from wargame manufacturers - Play a game with proxies such as tokens, beads, buttons, coins etc - Play a game with children - Play a command game - Own an army that never fought well historically - Remember the people who lost their lives in the battle you gamed |

Stage the Orc invasion of Canada through the Stargate. Use the Wargames Foundry figure of Queen Victoria with shotgun in a real wargame. |

39 items on the list. I've done 28 of them. I'm calling it a win. |

Greenfield – you are obviously in the wrong place. I put in at least three miles each day – preferably six. Don't always have the time for it though. |

25 out of 39 items done on the list. However, I do agree with Dynaman that anyone who plays wargames is a true wargamer. Also, Greenfield has a great point.I would add: kiss someone, fall in love, travel, learn a new subject, learn to cook, help someone, look at art, go to plays and films, and hang out with your friends and family. All those activities are worthy pursuits too. |

Actually done 26… though that 'attribute'… used to have a lime green t-shirt with 'Achaemenid Persians Rule' printed on it in blue, used to wear it at conventions – that would take it up to 27. |

12 of 39. Close enough for me. You forgot #40: Make a snarky comment about someone else telling you what counts as being a wargamer or not. "Lovely. ANOTHER definition of what makes a real gamer." 13 of 40. |

11 or 12, no desire to do the rest. Most of my battles turn into desperate last stands. We did have one club member who wore a kepi while playing ACW games. We took the so much that he stopped coming. |

Walk the battlefields you game to help appreciate the terrain, decisions made there and the overall history of the battle. This is also a key way to get to help get the terrain correct so you can create a better simulation/game. |

Bunkermeister | 28 Aug 2016 5:15 p.m. PST |
I have done all but a couple. The Airfix LVT4 is just as bad as the Churchill so I substitute that one. Not being English I don't do Dr. Who, but I have done time travel in a game. I do agree with Don Manser, and BTC Terrainman that visiting a battlefield is a must. I have been to Berlin and Gettysburg, both were great experiences. When you go visit a historic field of battle, take some of your troops, set them up and take photos. It's great. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |

Wash ones body parts? Act nicely to another gamer? Free Tango? Thank a GM for running a game? Read? Either the rules or history… Be nice and respectful to others? Just saying. Ours is a niche hobby. We're just NOT that important to the rest of the world. Having been on four continents at the behest of the current POTUS or his predecessors, I can tell you wargamers are a significant minority. My two shillings. Eric |

19 Plus, while I haven't used sand from a battlefield for basing, I did collect acorns from Horseshoe Ridge at Chickamauga to decorate the frame around my photo of George Thomas (Thomas' XIV Corps adopted the acorn as their corps symbol based on their defense of the ridge; by then, he was commanding the entire army, though).
