Dont't try going tomorrow (Sunday)… : ) |

Hobby shops in USA were traditionally closed Sunday and Monday, as were barber shops. Similar to German businesses traditionally being open late on Thursday night. I do not find a business that gives their employees one weekend day off a week as opposed to the 24 hour cycle of mindless consumerism such a bad thing. YMMV. |

"Blue Laws" A Dutch Invention carried on in NYS and several other Northern US states for generations… "Try it. You'll like it!" |

"Blue Laws" carried on for a long time in the southern USA. I remember when I was younger how much I hated them and felt they should somehow have been unconstitutional. Now I look back and kind of miss them as we have turned into impatient, instant gradification internet driven society of consumerism that forces me to work almost every Sunday instead of wargaming. OOPs…this thread was about 50% off brushes at Hobby Lobby. Well almost everything is 40% every day with the phone Ap. |

How does Cold Steel violate the "Politics" rule? |

@Winston – Taken on it's own I don't think he does, but the comment was in response to daler240D (which was clearly religious/political). |

Of course, this has nothing to do with blue laws. Hobby Lobby is a private company that chooses not to do business on Sundays, like many others (seen a bank open on Sundays lately?). |

My favorite chicken place is closed on Sundays as well. Hasn't seemed to hurt them either. |

Bue laws were also in Northern towns such as Ocean City N.J. I remember in the 80's that you could not buy a Bible on Sunday but purchase newspapers. I think it actually was good in that it gave people a day off. |

The empty parking lots were great for bike riding,go carts, and learning to drive, too. Doubt any of that would be allowed today, closed or not. I wouldn't want to go back. I guess there are several generations of kids who have asked "Why are they called '7-11'?" Anyway, the other chains also have half price on brushes from time to time. Though Michaels seems to have cut back on artist supplies. More room for plastic flowers,I guess. . . |
