All, This is a platoon pack of Battlefront Vietnam-era US regular old 'leg' infantry, and a pack of two OH-6 light observation helicopters, or 'LOACHES.' I'd picked the infantry up quite awhile ago and had them lying on the lead mountain; I'd also purchased the helos some time ago. I assembled them, finished up their flight stands, and primed them, but had them sitting around too. Well, I finally finished both, and I'm glad I did. Battlefront is a bit pricey, and my experience with their infantry has been a bit hit and miss, but these sculpts are really fantastic. The helos are really good, but the infantry is truly great. There are some flaws; some miscastings (missing rifle barrels and broken carrying handles), the grenadiers are missing pistols (I guess that's universal), and there was quite a bit of flash on some of the poses (some of which I missed in my clean up, unfortunately), but the poses are really fantastic. I can't wait to get these on the table; I'm sure most of you have seen the movie 'Platoon,' and that's exactly what I'm thinking with these guys. I've even been picking out poses for certain characters, and tired to paint the 'Electric Strawberry' patch of the 25th Infantry Division on them.
The whole mess, 44 troops and two helicopters.
A couple grenadiers with M-79s, crouched and moving forward. But they're Army, so going in different directions ;) To see a bunch more photos, please check the blog at: linkWell, that's the 'Platoon,' I can't wait to get them on the table. But there's a lot of stuff I can't wait to get on the table. Bear with me, I'm doing my best! More to come. V/R, Jack |

I can't wait to get them on the table. But there's a lot of stuff I can't wait to get on the table. ..I'm doing my best! You mean your working on more than one project at a time? Good heavens! You sound like a gamer young man! But seriously. The choppers look Great Jack. I havent been to BF' website lately, I dont recall if they have an Ontos. Im pretty sure they dont, (I understand 'Nam didnt go over as well as they had hoped) but I think its one of the oddest/coolest AFV's ever produced. btw, for figs that are 'hit/miss' on quality.. I think you did a helova job with these guys. |

Part-Time, Yeah, a few too many projects right now, and it's getting me down. I need more focus. Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it. Regarding 'hit or miss,' I didn't mean in this pack. I was saying that I've bought quite a bit of gear from Battlefront, and some has been great and some not so great. These are definitely more towards the 'great' end of the scale. So I need more focus, and to be more accurate in my descriptions ;) Thanks again. V/R, Jack |

They don't have a Ontos, as that's USMC-only and Battlefront has only covered the US Army so far. QRF has a 15mm Ontos. |

Scott S They don't have a Ontos, as that's USMC-only and Battlefront has only covered the US Army so far.QRF has a 15mm Ontos. That never even occured to me. I think of it as just another AFV. Im no longer a fan of lead mini's, litterally because the Wt. adds up. One of the reasons I left GW's 40K long ago. Just Jack, "Focus". "If Only" I could. Lets see.. WL's Bolt Action 28mm Inf. Tank War, going for in 15mm. A 'couple' WGF's of dark age Imagi-nation armies (one completed), there British-Zulu troops. And if Im not crazy enough, Ive fallen back to 'scrounging' Ebay for some GWs old BFG Imp. Cruisers. Last but not least, theres always the latest 'Great Game' ex. Team Yankee, trying to get my attention. If I live long enough to get all of these projects completed, Im going to be immortal. |
