Does anyone make sci fi-ish animals a la Traveller in 15mm? Thank you kindly.

Mako1125 Aug 2016 6:25 p.m. PST

There are a few, though can't recall who makes most of them.

Khurasan does a few, I think.

Wish there were more of them.

I really like the Ancient Ones, though they're very alien looking, they're really supposed to be very advanced, sentient beings. No reason why they have to be though.

If you don't get many replies here, check out the Dropship Horizon blog, which I think lists various manufacturers of them, under the fauna heading.

We could use a lot more alien animals and/or creatures.

I agree. Traveller had some oddballs, but not ridiculous, which (IMO) seems to be what is preferred nowadays.

US Toy is a national chain of "educational" toys. They also have a lot of very cheap toys. Use bugs, dinosaurs, and other animals as alien animals. Painting them an unusual color or a head swap can make them more usual. Flock them with sand or other materials can also make them look different.

IF you can find an ancient Grenadier Alien Animals box set for Traveller. Except for the Kian rider all should be usuable due to unknown scale of the beasts.

Ravenstar has a collection called "Horrids" and many work great for 15mm beasts, and some are pretty large.

A trip to the dollar store will usually find bags of interesting lizards and stuff. Good giant animals for 15mm scale :-)

I'm drawing a blank on the company name, but the folks who do the sci-fi elephant men (and moose men) have some animals too that'd work for 15mm.

Edit – it's Blasted Planets. blastedplanets.com

Also, Angel Barracks has some 6mm giant sci-fi bugs and worms and assorted other things that would work as "pet-sized" 15mm creatures.

D&D mini's can work too. Lots of odd critters.
