"North Vietnamese Air Defense Command name in Vietnamese? " Topic

The Vietnamese People's Air Force (VPAF) was a separate entity from the Air Defense command (that controlled the Air Search/GCI network, the VPAF, the SAMs and AAA) but damned if I can find its name in Vietnamese. I have the name of the Air Force. Anyone know or where I can find it?

On 31 May 1977, the Vietnam People's Air Force (Không quân Nhân dân Việt Nam) was separated from the Air Defence Force (Quân chủng Pḥng không).[

Humm interesting, my reading the VPAF was under an umbrella organization with that controlled all aspects of the air defense, it certainly wasn't in control of the defense of North Vietnam during the war.

Although Hanoi had been improving its air defenses incrementally since 1957, the system was still grossly inadequate against a modern bombing campaign. To simplify air defense command and control, Hanoi combined the Air Defense Force, which managed ground-based anti-aircraft systems, and the North Vietnamese Air Force into one command on Oct. 23, 1963."

I guess that is the name of the group I was looking for. But I don't think its the air force name.

The Air Defense Force was the original umbrella organization including both Air Defense( Missiles AAguns, etc and the Air Force ( Flying things) The Air Force became a separate service in 1977.

Of course in a centralized Communist state like Vietnam all of the armed forces would be subject to the Defense ministry and State Council ( Politburo?)

The translation of the Vietnamese is literally "Air Defense – Air Force" Not really a clever name…
