Prompted by a discussion on interview questions today. One of my chums asks candidates "If you were a space on a Monopoly board, what would you be and why?" So I pose the question here.

Assume the London board edition

Assume the London board edition

Not familiar with that version…

Connecticut Ave. Cheap but useful with a full light blue set.

Why would I use the London edition?
Atlantic City, Baby!

I would be a hotel on Baltic Ave. Cheap, but lived in.

"Why would I use the London edition?"

Because it is the original, and clearly the best :)

If you must then select a space from some heathen edition (but not a novelty one like Star wars or the rather nice US Navy edition that I have somewhere)

:)

I actually have a well thought out answer to this. Reading Rail Road. That way, whether you said rEEding or rEHding, I could tell you that you were wrong.

Winston Smith24 Aug 2016 1:42 p.m. PST

No. The original is Atlantic City.

myxemail24 Aug 2016 1:52 p.m. PST

Tennessee Ave. Gritty, and around the corner from the nice neighborhoods

"No. The original is Atlantic City."

Really? Well there you go. Every day is a school day :)

All of the Utilities – I would then renationise them

Reading Railroad

Started life on Vine, moved along to Trafalgar Square. Though I'd use the Atlantic City board. Game was invented by a Yank.

I always start with Old Kent Road and Whitechapel if I can.

Cheap and easy to put up hotels.

Easy to overlook. And I used to drink in pubs in the Old Kent Road so it seems appropriate…

Why not just go with the Harry Potter edition?

Yes, I'm sure there is one.

Because it is the original, and clearly the best

Trick question- they're all equally terrible! grin

The Beast Rampant24 Aug 2016 3:48 p.m. PST

I had the card for 'Baltic Avenue' pinned to the door of my first apartment.

I'd be the lowest rent space while complaining about capitalist oppression of the working class. :)

(and if you don't know the history of Monopoly, look it up before my comment gets you all hot and bothered)

Electricity works – if I'm loosing the game I can pull the plug.

Go to directly to jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. USD

I'm a law and order kind of guy.

I think I'd be Go. You would probably have a lot of people owing you favours if your job was to hand out 200 quid every time they went by.

"Community Chest" – I'm easy.

-or-

"Chance" – Yep, still easy!
