So to the people who have gotten the rules what's your first impressions of them? For myself after looking thru it I can say that it's easy to read and understand and it does include things that Aeronef didn't have or weren't able to get around to. It explains more about Carrier operations and things like Group movement and Group shooting. So all I have to do now is first download the Stat Cards from Brigade at some point and then run a game or two to understand things. So your thoughts? Michael |

Where can I find the stat cards at on the site? Been looking, but can't find them. |
Captain Gideon | 24 Aug 2016 1:37 p.m. PST |
As far as I know they're not up yet but keep checking. |

I quite like the layout and format of the book. Each section is easy to follow and the hobby section at the back is a bonus. That being said, am I completely blind and missing a page where the stat cards have each of the symbols explained? Individual icon demos are smattered appropriately throughout the book in various sections (Hull Points and Guns come to mind), but I kind of thought there'd be a summary diagram detailing all of the individual icons in one place before the pages of stat cards start on page 56. |

Another project I couldn't get into because of cash flow. Any indication as to when these will be available to the general public ? |
Captain Gideon | 25 Aug 2016 7:25 a.m. PST |
Canuckinator if you look at page 55 it has the info you seek. Guthroth I wish I had an answer for you but I don't but it shouldn't be too much longer. |

I was able to paint the page image just fine with my browser, though I know some make you save rather than 'view image.' Still, it's of high enough resolution that it prints really well. I don't log on to FB, so was annoyed by that box taking up a third of the screen up til then, mind you. Doug |

Any indication as to when these will be available to the general public ? Ships? Most available for years… ;->= Ah, the rulebooks. Tony of Brigade Models posted he should be having some on the web page shortly. Just out of curiosity, is anyone complaining about the assembly-and-paint guide section of the book? Doug |

Complaining regarding what? |
TheBeast | 05 Sep 2016 10:39 a.m. PST |
Sorry, just that is pretty large chunk of the book. I've been a fan of the Brigade Models forever; I'm just wondering if anyone else had an issue with same. By the way, I went back to the Brigade Models blog, and I must have misread 'should be having some on the web page shortly.' Apologies, all! Doug |

Interesting that they made new rules for existing models. Why? Whats the difference between the new rules and the old? |
Captain Gideon | 08 Sep 2016 7:23 a.m. PST |
To answer your first thing it's not new because they have been making new rules for almost every historical period I can think of. For example for Naval rules we have: General Quarters Clear for Action Seapower Seekrieg And that's just a few of them they've also done it for Napoleonics,Colonial,American Civil War etc and you use the same excisting models/miniatures for these rules. As for differences between the rules I can say that there's several for example: Altitude-this was never really covered in AERONEF but I won't go into it since I don't know enough about it yet. Carrier Operations-it seems that this has been refined from Aeronef and you can do more with Carrier's now than before. Line of Sight-In Aeronef there was nothing that blocked line of sight but in Imperial Skies Clouds, certain types of terrain like Volcano's(if you flying low)and floating islands. Gun Ranges-In Aeronef there was only one range for guns and that was for the main guns but if you've seen any of the Aeronef models you can clearly see that there's different size guns on the models,so in Imperial Skies there's are 3 Gun Types Large Medium and Small. And with each type of gun you have a range band: Large-30inches Medium-20inches Small-10inches And you can use all three when shooting at enemy ships but when shooting at Aircraft you can only use the small guns. There are more but these are what I remember mostly. You could say that Imperial Skies is an upgrade from AERONEF as I see it. One other thing is the timeline Aeronef's timeline is much different than Imperial Skies timeline but each one is interesting. I think there's more new things but this is what I remember right now. |

Altitude? I noticed the pictures show the figs on adjustable height bases |
Captain Gideon | 08 Sep 2016 9:57 a.m. PST |
Yes there's Altitude. In Imperial Skies there's 4 Altitudes: 1.On Ground 2.Low 3.Cruising Altitude(otherwise known as Battle Altitude) 4.High Most of the Altitude rules are Optional rules and can be used if all players choose to use them unless otherwise agreed to. For game purposes games will be played at Cruising Altitude but if you're planning to include ground targets for Aircraft to make strafing attacks then you'll need to include other Altitude rules. One other rule(which is an Optional Rule)which I overlooked was Boarding Actions these rules give you the option to board and enemy vessel during battle like in the days of wooden vessels. |

The altitude rules are optional and I have found they only become an issue if yo are using monitors. Jon lebanon1982.blogspot.com |

I just got the first set of Stat Cards for Imperial Skies. It's the British and you get 80 cards which is 20 ship/aircraft cards and 3 of each of those cards so you get 4 of each card. I'm very pleased with the cards and I can't wait until the rest of the Nations are released. Michael |

Okay, we got to try a simple run though, and I was properly spanked. Sean will be putting up his AAR soon enough, but I will say I'm satisfied it's a solid play along with Aeronef. I've not decided it replaces to my taste. As always, there are bits that jar a bit, though it's dangerous to single parts that may fit with the whole. Fools rush in… Crossing the T is one that bugs me. When I was explaining to my worthy opponent, he suggested that he must be the object of Crossing the T, as he presents a larger target. No, I was head on, he gets the bonus hitting me. Remember, he's already got the standard bonus of full guns vs. half when fired fore or aft. I tried to rationalize as 'moving target' and 'changing aspect' representations, but in the end, I decided the bonus was an inappropriate holdover from wooden ships, when the crossed T could be devastating 'raking fire.' This was because they were wooden ships hit with solid shot. We'll continue to play the rule as is, and leave the 'half fore and aft' even when the model clearly does NOT bear guns in this manner. I will be adding this to my list of preferred play, along with revamped 'fighters,' however. Doug |
