"Turkey said the strikes were in response to ISIL mortar fire from across the border [File: Murad Sezer/Reuters]The Turkish military has shelled Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) positions in northern Syria for a second day, in response to what it said was mortar fire from across the border. At least seven mortar bombs, believed to had been launched from the ISIL-controled Syrian border town of Jarablus, landed on Tuesday on residential areas in the town of Karkamis in Turkey's southeastern province of Gaziantep. No casulties were reported as a result of the incident…" Full article here link Amicalelement Armand |

Turkish tanks now crossing into Syria, apparently with US air support. link The fiction that Syria is a sovereign country has now been exposed. I wonder if Assad will complain at the UN? |

And USA has told both Assad and the Russians that they will defend their special forces operating in Syria from air attack link |

I'm still awaiting the Turks, the 2d largest military in NATO, to do anything really effective in the fight to eliminate Daesh. Who is literally right across their border. They can drive to Raqqa, if they wanted to. But Assad and his Russia handlers may have something to say about that. However the point is Daesh is close … too close for comfort. VVV, I have had the news on all day, CNN or FOX. Nothing has been mentioned about the Turks crossing into Syria ? And USA has told both Assad and the Russians that they will defend their special forces operating in Syria from air attack And no one on any side should expect anything less. |

Here you go then link The Syrian foreign ministry, representing a government that has lost territory to ISIS and other opposition groups in a five-year civil war, condemned "this blatant breach to its sovereignty" by Turkey, Syria's state news agency reported. |

Turkey has been wanting to invade Syria since last year. It has only been thru strong US efforts, that this has not happened. The US does not want Turkey (and their Saudi backers) to further escalate tensions between the West and Russia & Iran. To prevent this, they have been waving the US checkbook and threat of weapons embargoes. Now, after the coup attempt and recent wedding bombing, Turkey will probably do whatever it feels necessary to look strong to its populace. I see escalated actions into Syria and Kurdish regions in the future. |

Well … would someone finally go full-tilt postal and put Daesh in the Archives of history, all ready ? Or at least as many as possible should be "removed from the battlefield". If there are any survivors they can be tried by the Hague. |

So, looks like Turkey's going all out to impress their visitor, after having done virtually nothing for several years, excluding of course trading with them for cheap oil, and letting jihadi wannabes travel across their borders, unimpeded. Interesting. Battlefield trials are a lot more efficient, and timely. |

Just saw on CNN or FOX, that Turkish Forces and local anti-Deash forces are going "Daesh Hunting" … In Syria. With US CAS in support. Which means US SF types are there somewhere. Calling it in … Hopefully the Turks will be as effective as they were back in the Korean War decades ago. But we will just have to wait and see. I'd say more … but Bill will DH me for "Cheerleading" … |

Notably, the USA is providing air support, most likely the bargain made for US approval and support. No need to have any "errant" bombing runs hit US and allied Kurdish positions. Also noticed M60 tanks involved in the establishment of this buffer zone. Guess the Leopard 2s are pointed at the Russians. |

"Guess the Leopard 2s are pointed at the Russians". More likely at their own people, "just in case", still. Erdie's paranoia still seems to be rather high. |

Why has no one put a Go Pro camera on the turret of their M60 tank yet? |
Legion 4 | 25 Aug 2016 7:31 a.m. PST |
Yeah the M60s are fine for "Deash Hunting". The Leos have to be prepared to keep "order" on the home front … |
