Thanks, Armand. As an aside, this is a heavily annotated play test of the draft version of new ECW rules by Simon Miller and Andrew Brentnall, which are based upon the To the Strongest! engine. This post has the first 2 turns, with more to follow later. Peter |

I would use a different ground scale so I could concentrate more on the area to the East of the road. Also the when and where of the arrival or Parliament's cav reinforcements can be tricky. |

Yes, we have played the battle twice with 2 different sets of rules, both times using the scenario as laid out in the Partisan Scenario book. Once the reinforcements came on Royalist left flank and once on their right. I think the most likely scenario has them arriving on the right and my only reason for believing that is that there are two accounts that I know of that describe the infantry battle and there is no mention of returning horse. In fact you could probably completely randomise the roll for reinforcements so that neither commander knows where, when or even if they will show up. |
