OK, so my wife agreed to play some FiveCore with me to try out the rules, and I wanted to use some of those nifty Star Trek standees I have made recently. We ran a very basic scenario of "get to the strange energy-emitting crystal and drive off the enemy" featuring Federation vs. Romulans (since I stat them up the same for FiveCore; Klingons have some extra rules.) We had identical forces of six troopers per side, each armed with a phaser pistol (range 24", 1 Kill die and 1 Shock die.) She played the Romulans and had some amazing rolls on the kill dice, eliminating my entire force in fairly short order… I continued to get "Firefight" when I had no good line of sight to those pesky Romulans. I remembered to take three pics during the game:

For the purposes of coming to grips with the game rules, we only used the moving, shooting, and cover rules. She wants to play again tomorrow and we plan to add Dash and Reaction Fire. Hopefully I will remember to take more pictures!

I've been re-watching the original series lately, and your terrain is about spot on! Sounds like a good game, look forward to pics from the next one.

A little too pink, I think

Looks like an original series set :-)

Reaction fire will definitely change up the game.

Go pink or beam me up scotty! I also see the problem for you side, too many red shirts. evil grin

Red shirts always get a bad rap for dying, but numbers-wise the yellow shirts died in greater quantity than the red. The red shirts just died more memorably…

"A little too pink, I think"

Maybe it's a Dr. Seuss world!

Or, Tribble-trees! ;-)

Dr. Suess was definitely an influence on this scenery… as was the price of the components.

Hey, nothing wrong with gaming on hte cheap :-)
Wargaming doesn't have to cost very much.
