At home we have a Replicator 2 and I have lots of STL's of 1/144 models. How would it be if I supplied the "loan" of this STL to get folk to print it on their machines, take a picture and share the information. We would then get an idea which are the good machines. To print I would provide the STL. the user would argee to not sell or use the file for other than the round robbin. It would need to be printed in 0,1mm or finener layer resolution to make a decent job. I suggest it is photographed before and after support removal. |

I'd certainly be interested in the results. I'm looking to buy a printer but am overwhelmed by choices and techno-babble. |

I have an older Wanhao (from 2012, practically ancient), and a newer Trium link incoming soon (ish). The wanhao manages 0.1 mm and the trium is supposed to go down to 0.02 mm. |

OK so I suggest this model. link Its two parts hull and gun. Both needs some supports. The gun uses the built in support algorythem and the hull limited manualy included supports. You agree to not use the model for other than its intended purpose.
You need to send me an e-mail :- brian.handley2@ntlworld.com so I can sernd the STL files. I will print a new model,to show the straight off the plate standard. replicator two uses PLA. It will pring Nijaflex but I see no use for printed rubber in wargames. It will not print ABS as it does not have a heated plate and the wife would kill be I I stank the house out. ;-). |

This evening I put my printer on its highest resolution for printing and scaled a T55 model to 1/285. It took 34 minutes to print this.
I left the supports in place and I am astounded, it looks rough in these pictures but you can see the hatches, the engine grills, lights, MG port and road wheels easily. The details are crisp and easily discernible. This model was made with PLA on my Printrbot Simple Metal. Some care will have to be excercised to remove it from the supports but wow does it look good in the flesh. I NEVER thought a 3d printer could do something this small this well. |

.06, I really wish I could take better photos. It looks so rough and jagged but when I hold it in my hands the lines are sharp and crisp and the hatches and grills pop right out. It is near GHQ and Cnc quality. |

That is seriously fine. May be it will show up better if painted in matt colour and then highlighted. |
