I painted up 3 of the ghqmodels Gleaves class ships. The configuration they sell is the 4x5" gun configuration (like USS Buchanon). Some of the Gleaves had a 5x5" gun configuration (like USS Monssen). I'd like to have both.

I was thinking about using the ghqmodels Benson class, but I can't tell whether it is a 4 gun model or a 5 gun model (Benson itself had 5) from the photo on the website.

Anyone know about the ghq Benson, or come up against what to do?

Bensons and Gleaves were essentially the same class built by two different yards, and differed most visibly in flat sided vs round funnels.

Most of the B/G's landed the fifth gun in early 42, though some held on to it as late as mid-43. Monssen had 4 guns by the time of her loss.

If you zoom in on the picture of the Benson on the GHQ site it looks like the late war 4-gun 5-tube refit.

Thanks. I did more searching and found this site with picture of Monssen. Looks like I'm good!
