What makes me mad is company that does NOT answer their e-mails!!!!!!!!!!!!! Such as Gripping Beast, Warlord Games and of course Glenn Floden of Companion Minatures!!!!!!! Mike Adams |
Murphy | 21 Aug 2016 5:06 p.m. PST |
before getting "mad as hell", you might want to clarify just how long you have been trying to get them to answer emails. Have you also considered the possibilities that they might not have even gotten them, or that they may be unable to answer, or just haven't gotten to it yet? |

Without knowing your exact situation, I know your pain brother. I have been emailing Forged in Battle and West Wind for over a year trying to find the Santissima Trinidad for their 1/3000 Trafalgar sets. I inquired about the rumor of 1/3000 box fleets for Battle of Copenhagen (which was reported in Miniature Wargames IIRC). Never got a response. Used multiple email addresses of their company. Checked my spam folders and even used different email accounts of mine in case it was getting into their spam folder. Never called, maybe one day I will do that. |

Lack of communication is a pet peeve of mine, even when I was working. The problem in our hobby though, is that mini companies have small staffs at best, and if they are involved in a convention, it throws them off even more. I'd say give them maybe 4 business days to answer before you pester them. |
princeman | 21 Aug 2016 6:32 p.m. PST |
Ease up Mike. This is not how they make their living. It is part time at best. No response, go somewhere else. I can remember when our choice of figures was between 2 or 3 companies with one pose for each troop type. Greg |

Unfortunately, email is not a 100% reliable means of communication. |

Unanswered emails are certainly annoying but don't make me mad as hell; I get mad as hell more at things such as civilians dying in the Syrian war, or starving children. |
lloydthegamer | 21 Aug 2016 9:26 p.m. PST |
Hate to say it Legion, but Warlord has been very good about answering emails and resolving problems. In my case I'm 100% happy with their response and resolution times. |

As an owner of a game company I can't tell you how many emails from customers arrive in my spam. I try and find as many as I can. |

From the OP's list, I've had cause to contact Warlord directly – prompt reply, quick, courteous problem resolution. Couldn't fault them. |

don't care to answer to mails….me too…same isue with Gripping Beast…and i waited for them to fulfill a promise to replace me a wrong item in an order…..and, above all, Redoubt..which, untill now, i rated as a very reliable manufacture… |

Bill wrote: Unfortunately, email is not a 100% reliable means of communication. There is one company that gets my emails and answers them but I don't usually get those answers. They just disappear somewhere in the big world wide internet. But they have friendly staff, great products and good service – so I continue to increase my collection of their figures – especillay now I know about the unreliability of their email and can work around it. |

i try to answer as soon as poss and even trawl through the junk emails just in case at least twice a week. i have found a few enquiries in there over the years. i too have had little luck with email replies from some companies not just gaming ones, guess who gets my business the ones who email back. |

Got to say that I've dealt with both Warlord and Gripping Beast by e-mail and never had any problems. Maybe the issue is with your e-mail, not theirs? |

The number of exclamation marks probably flags the emails as spam. ;) Try sending from a different email address in case the address or provider has been flagged as phishing or spammy. |

+1 evilcartoonist. If unanswered e-mails get you mad as hell I suggest taking a moment for some perspective. I will now share a true story. I used to work at a law school library and was one of the managers there. One work day started off with every thing that could go wrong was going wrong. We've all been there. It was during one of the afternoon class changes that one of the law students happened to pass by my office on his way to his next class. I always had my door open and I made it point to get to know the students and be available for what ever reason. On this occasion the young man noticed that I was in a particular bad mood and asked what was going on. He sat down in the chair across the desk and I began to explain all the woes of my day. He listened attentively nodding his understanding as I briefed him. He then looked intently at me leaning forward and said, "So what is your casualty projection?" You see this young man was a US Army captain (infantry) returned from more than one deployment to Afghanistan and was using his G.I. Bill to attend law school. I am sure I sat there a moment with my mouth open dumbfounded as the gravity of his statement sunk in. After a moment I replied, "My casualty projection is zero sir." "Carry on then." He said as he stood up and went on to class. He continues to serve now as a JAG officer. |

Hello Mike. Here is Lorenzo from Warlord. I am sorry if we have not replied to you yet, unfortunately we have been literally submerged by messages in the last few weeks, in particular due to the recent pre-orders available for the 2nd edition of Bolt Action. We are answering all messages one by one but unfortunately we are a bit behind compared to our usual answering time. In regard of your specific message, I have looked and looked but could not find anything with your name or the e-mail address connected to your account on our web store. If you could you please contact me directly on my e-mail address: lorenzo.pala@warlrodgames.com. I will be able to notice your message immediately. I hope this will help. Kind regards Lorenzo Warlord games Customer Service team |

I feel your pain. I sent three emails (through a company's webpage "contact" link). I sent them several days apart, all were basically the same, trying to get some info to place an order. After a month they still haven't responded. I was lucky though, this was just their US distributer and I was able to order from the manufacturer in the UK. I wound up having to eat shipping but I have them on order and have simply decided that is the way that I will get my stuff in the future. I realize that many mini companies are little more than a guy in his basement/garage with some molds and some pots of molten metal and a day job that really pays the bills and so I try to cut some slack. But I do know that there are some companies that are different. Especially stores, stores really should have someone checking their email, and yes, that means going through the spam folder as well. Some things will always be missed, things do fall through the cracks but sometimes it's more than that. Having run organizations myself sometimes the best option is to phone the store/company and ask to speak with a supervisor. While it's true that sometimes the problem is with the email, sometimes its with the person whose job it is to read/answer the email. And often the boss only finds out is someone complains. |

Yup! Keep on truckin! Have to Larf got me in a deal doing Black Tree's Zulus at goodly price, saw a week later that order is pending a week later, so pops off a mail to their powers that be, gets a timely answer with the appropriate sorrys etc, will follow up and report next Monday, haha that was 2 weeks ago. I resent this afternoon, fingers are crossed, John?? Truth as much as we want our sweeties and toys quickly, its gonna get to you (sometimes not) when it gets to you. |

I discovered my Hotmail address wasn't working for a couple of companies – they just never received my emails. It took me quite a while before I finally found out that they weren't ignoring me (& others who had the same problem). Changed to a gmail account which solved that issue. |

It's equally frustrating to have emails replying to customers' enquiries bounce or fail for a variety of reasons, besides disappearing into a spam folder. One of the commonest is a customer giving the wrong reply to address (because they've put .com instead of .co.uk, googlemail instead of gmail, gmail instead of ymail, or just plain misspelled their email address including the part that is their own name). This mainly affects email addresses given in online orders nowadays or newly set-up accounts in mail clients. The other is transient errors and an automated system message that an email hasn't been delivered, that the system will try for 48 hours and then give up. So you can spend 10 to 20 minutes writing a detailed reply to a cusomter only to have it fail to arrive, with the sure knowledge that your business's name will be mud on a forum somewhere because the customer doesn't consider that email may be quick to send but it is fallible. |

Warlords is very good and Lorenzo (see above) has always been very helpful for me. With the Fall wargaming con season starting I am sure most companies are getting flooded with orders right now. |
BrigadeGames | 31 Aug 2016 11:02 a.m. PST |
jowady – I hope that wasn't me. I can't tell as your name is not on your account here. Sometimes we all miss things. Near conventions or vacations, this can be an issue as there are backlogs of work that need to be handled first. Returning from a convention requires unloading, inventory, reordering and at the same time handling the backlog of work. And that is after weeks of prep, loading/unloading/setup/takedown/loading and unloading a stock trailer. And yes it is more difficult for those of us that do it as a second job. 16 years in business though and we continue to increase sales every year so something is getting done correctly. That said, I have some customers that will reply to order emails even though the order emails say to use the webstore contact system as I don;t monitor the account they are sent from. "It's equally frustrating to have emails replying to customers' enquiries bounce or fail for a variety of reasons, besides disappearing into a spam folder. The spam folder check is the biggest issue I run into. |

I distinguish between 'real' businesses with full-time staff and hobby or part-timers. However I can't help but notice that wargames people are about half as responsive as those in my other hobby sectors. (shooting, antique maps, Sci Fi book collecting, rock climbing, etc) |

for the Warlord Defense, :) if sometimes you have to wait for an answer, ( in fact a ticket number ) ,there is ALWAYS a satisfactory solution . BTW Lorenzo as mistyped his mail adress : lorenzo.pala@warlRodgames.com won't work lorenzo.pala@warlordgames.com seem's correct :p |
