So this years Toys for Tots give away is a great turn marker/counter done by Impudent Mortal. Walt has done our last three handouts and always jumps at the chance to support the cause. The problem with the laser etched plastic is that the lettering is sometimes a little dark. Usually it is not a problem but the way this counter works is that the lower dial is only seen through the small hole of the top dial and hard to see.
the lower dial looks like this.
So to make this easier to read I decided to do a white wash of the dial.
So I use a high pigment paint, in this case, Reaper White, and mix 1/3 paint to 2/3 water. I also add 1 drop of liquid dish detergent. Mix this together thoroughly and apply over the numbers on the dial.
As you can I'm not being very neat, but it doesn't matter much, because after you apply it and let it dry you can take a clean rag or paper towel and wipe away the white paint on the dial.
As you can see from the WIP picture above it comes off easily. For any spot that remain you can use a slightly damp cloth to clean things up. I don't reccommend a wet rag to start, because if it's too wet it might take the white out of the numbers.
Here is a before and after shot.
And here you can see the counter with the new whiter numbers.
You could also do this to the logo on the front but that's up to you. This can be used on any etched plastic markers, rulers, counters etc. It is an easy and quick way to brighten up and personalize your gaming aids.

P.S. Every counter for this years event will be white washed for you.
